Chapter Fourty Nine (Delilah's POV)

I wake in the middle of the night, in the dorms. Everyone else is fast asleep in their own beds, and the hallways are empty. Putting on my shoes, I tiptoe through the hallways, making sure that I know where I'm going. As I get to the hospital section of the bureau, there are nurses walking around and checking on patients. There are none in Eric’s room, his mother is the only visitor at this time of night.

“Mrs. Coulter?” I softly ask, just to make sure that she is awake or not. She sleeps peacefully, holding hands with her son. The heart monitor beeps at a normal pace; Eric is doing good.

“Hang in there, make sure to wake up soon okay? Also don’t do what you did earlier today; I don’t think that I could handle that, it was bad enough that your poor mother had to go through it. Don’t do it to me.” I whisper. His mother stirs, possibly from discomfort.

“Is he doing okay?” She asks. I nod. “Yeah he’s… still hanging in there. Just doing a check up on him.”

“That’s good. Now you go, get some rest. I don’t want you falling asleep when he wakes up, okay?” I can slightly make out her smile in the dark, and it’s just like his.

Too much like his. I creep out of the room and while walking down these dark, empty hallways, I really think about whether or not he is going to wake up.

I just hope that he does.
