THEN CAME HER FUNERAL.
Sev's funeral was a somber affair. The sky was overcast, reflecting the collective grief of those gathered to say their final goodbyes. Friends and family spoke in hushed tones, offering condolences and sharing memories of Sev's vibrant spirit and kind heart. Flowers adorned her casket, a stark contrast to the somber mood.

Bucky stood at the edge of the gathering, his face a mask of stoic grief. He watched as people came and went, as words of comfort were exchanged, but none of it reached him. The world felt distant, as if he were trapped in a bubble of pain that nothing could penetrate.

As the funeral drew to a close, people began to drift away, leaving Bucky alone by Sev's grave. He didn't move, his eyes fixed on the freshly turned earth. His heart felt like it had been torn from his chest, the pain a constant, gnawing ache that nothing could soothe.

Bucky sat alone at Sev's grave, the soft rustling of leaves in the breeze the only sound accompanying him. His suit was still on, the tie loosened and the top button of his shirt undone, but it didn't alleviate the suffocating tightness in his chest. He clutched a bottle of whiskey in his hand, the amber liquid swirling as he took another deep swig, the burn in his throat offering little comfort.

The grave was fresh, the earth still dark and unsettled. Flowers surrounded the headstone, tributes from friends and family who came to pay their respects. Bucky's eyes were fixed on the engraved letters of her name, unable to look away. It felt surreal, as if any moment he would wake up from this nightmare and find her laughing in the kitchen, teasing him about something trivial.

"Hey, Sev," he finally managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's me."

The silence that followed was unbearable. Bucky took another long drink, the alcohol doing nothing to dull the pain that radiated from his heart. He looked up at the sky, the stars beginning to twinkle in the evening light.

"I don't know where to start," he said, his voice trembling. "I don't know how to do this without you. It's like... like there's this hole inside me, and I don't know how to fill it. I'm so mad at you, Sev. I'm so fucking mad that you left me like this."

His grip tightened on the bottle, his knuckles turning white. "Why didn't you talk to me? Why didn't you let me help you? I'm your dad, damn it! I was supposed to protect you, to keep you safe. And I failed."

"I failed you, and I'm sorry."

Tears streamed down his face, unchecked and unashamed. "I don't know how to go on without you. Every day is a struggle. Every moment is a reminder that you're gone. And it hurts, Sev. It hurts so goddamn much."

The sound of footsteps on the grass behind him barely registered in his mind. He was too lost in his grief, too consumed by the overwhelming sorrow that threatened to swallow him whole. But then a hand rested on his shoulder, a solid, comforting presence that pulled him back from the brink.

"Bucky," Sam said softly, his voice filled with compassion and understanding.

Bucky didn't look up. He couldn't. He was afraid that if he did, the dam holding back his emotions would shatter completely. "I'm so mad at her, Sam," he choked out. "I'm so fucking mad that she left me like this. She... she made me feel like I wasn't enough. Like I couldn't save her."
