Something was different.

Hyunjin had known the moment
he had woken up with a
cranky pup in his arms.

Seungmin had the night shift
the previous night so he had only
returned early in the morning and
was understandably unhappy when
his boyfriend's alarm went off.

But with one kiss on the younger's
forehead, Seungmin had gone back
to sleep while Hyunjin had quietly
left the bed to get ready for the day.

It was obvious that something
was different.

All those years the ravenette had
only eaten some toast for breakfast,
often in a hurry and not very
hungry in the morning.

But this morning was different.

Maybe it was the time’s and the
male's tired brain's fault that he
didn't question his enormous
appetite for a big bowl of
Seungmin's cereal and an
instant ramen as dessert.

Maybe he had been too
distracted by the music playing in
his headphones to notice that he
was taking a different route to the
company this time to subconsciously
avoid the smell of fried Chinese food.

Maybe he had blamed it on his
laziness that the stairs up to
Minho's office felt like they had
duplicated themselves over night.

Something was different,
Hyunjin had known it but it
had taken a bit more for him to
realize what was going on.

“You want some Pad Thai too?
I'm ordering lunch.”

Minho asked as he tipped
something on his phone before
he looked up at his assistant
expectantly.

“Sure. Can we order some
spring rolls too? With that
tasty sauce?”

“Yeah, of course.
Anything else?”

“No, that's it.”

“Alright, we'll have lunch at 12!”

He had felt that something
was different but the moment
he took the first bite of the
sauce-dipped spring roll, he
knew what it was.

“Hyunjin-”

Minho called out for his friend
when he looked at his boss with
wide eyes for a second before
he ran off with his hand clasped
over his mouth.

Despite his stomach being rather
empty since they were just about
to have lunch, the poor boy
managed to throw up the last
remaining bits of his unusually
big breakfast.

And even if part of him started to
feel a tiny bit excited, he couldn't
help but whimper at the
disgusting feeling.

It was one of the things he had
been scared of the most ever
since they've started trying.

Because there was seriously
nothing worse than the feeling
of throwing up.

“Hyunjin?”

The ravenette could hear his
boss's worried voice but took
a moment to breathe before he
wiped his mouth and flushed
the toilet.

“Are you okay?”

“Y-yeah, I just..
Can you give me a moment?
I'll be back in a second.”

“No, please don't rush yourself.
I'll make you some ginger tea,
call me if you need help to get
back to the office, okay?”

Hyunjin nodded before he realized
that Minho couldn't see him.

“Yeah, thanks.”

“And you're sure I shouldn't-”

“Minho, I'm okay.
Really.”

It took a few seconds until
Hyunjin made out the sound of
the door falling close but once he
was sure he was alone, his hands
almost instinctively found their way
to the small package in his pocket.

He knew that he shouldn't have
any expectations, they haven't even
been trying for three months now.

And still he couldn't stop the soft
smile from appearing on his face as
he unwrapped the little plastic stick.

It felt so strange, new,
forbidden but so exciting.

Would he really be?

And if so,
how would Seungmin react?

Would he stay true to his words
and maybe even be a tiny bit happy?

The time was going by so damn
slowly as Hyunjin waited patiently
for the result to be ready.

He wouldn't have guessed that
the first test he'd take since they've
started trying would be in the
company's restroom.

And he was really glad right now
that no one else was currently there,
no matter what the results would be.

He wanted to cry and sort his
thoughts alone, no matter if they'd
be happy or sad tears.

“Alright, I can do this.”

Hyunjin took a deep breath after
he had turned his ringing alarm
off that told him the results should
be ready now and placed his phone
aside so he could fully focus on
the pregnancy test.

Every part of his body was tingling
from the different emotions he was
feeling at the moment but the second
he had turned the stick around,
his eyes falling on the results,
a warm feeling of pure peace and
calm spread through his body.

Because he had known something
was different and now he knew
that he had been right.

He was going to have a baby.
