Amanda approaches the nearest window, wipes away some of the fog, and looks out it. "King Abigor's mountain." She said. "If this is Dreamvale, Amanda, I'd rather take my chances back in Chamberg." Said Puffin. "Feels more like Nightmarevale." Said Derek.
"Puffin?" Said Paul. "What?" Puffin said. "If only we could just fly away like you and Amanda." Paul said. "That'll be the day, young Paul." Said Puffin. Paul flops onto the floor and buries his face into his knees, while Odette comforts him.
Meanwhile, Amanda and Derek approach a picture that's in the tower. Inside the frame are the familiar inhabitants of Dreamvale they met on their previous adventure.
A voice calls out a minute later, startling the others.
Sis? Sis?
The group finds a young woman in a silver gown sitting in the corner. "Sis, is that you?" She asked. "No, we're Queen Odette..." Said Odette. "King Derek..." Derek said. "King Paul..." Said Paul. "And Queen Amanda." Said Amanda.
"Oh. For a second there, I thought my sister had come back. My name's Sadie, Princess Sadie." Said the woman. "Your Highness." Odette said with a curtsy. "May I ask a favor of you, Your Majesties?" Sadie asked. "Of course, what do you need?" Asked Derek. "Would you please check my dress for signs of wear and tear?" Asked Sadie. "Absolutely." Said Odette.
The two kings and queens of this land check Sadie's dress if there are any rips. "Any holes, whatsoever? How does it look?" She asked. "Very nice, Highness." Paul said. "Oh, thank you. I've been through a lot before you got here." Sadie said with a sigh. "That makes two of us." Amanda said.
"Queen Odette, are you sure you're not my sister? You kinda look like her a little bit." Said Sadie. "I'm sure, Sadie." Odette said. "Well, my sister had me build this scarecrow with a pumpkinhead to scare that awful witch, Deidamia. I stood it in a place where Deidamia would meet me, face-to-face. And along she came. Sure enough, she was scared. But then, she was angry. She has a terrible temper." Sadie said. "We know." Said Amanda.
"Where did she get all those different heads?" Asked Paul. "Did you see the headless dancing girls outside?" Asked Sadie. "We did." Derek said. "That's where she got them." Sadie said. "Seriously, that's just plain freaky." Amanda said. "Freaky? More like ominous!" Paul said.
Sadie nods in agreement. "Anyway, Deidamia was about to destroy my scarecrow with her stick. But she decided to test some Powder of Life she'd just bought from a magician. She did. It didn't work, so she destroyed it, but I saved the head." She said.
"Powder of Life?" Asked Derek. "You sprinkle it on something and the thing comes to life." Sadie said. "Does Deidamia have any more of it?" Asked Paul. "If she does, it's in cabinet 31, with her original head." Said Sadie.
"What happened to your sister?" Puffin asked. "She vanished. I think Deidamia enchanted her. After that, she threw me in this corner and said she was gonna make a slave out of me. But she was wearing head 22 at the time, and must not have worn it since, because she hasn't remembered I'm up here." Sadie said.
"Sadie, Puffin, listen! Here's what we have to do." Said Odette. She explains her plan to everyone in the group.
