Em's POV
I munched on my salad as Billie bodied her burritos. This girl's obsession with burritos is honestly concerning, if I'm being honest.
"So, what's up, why did you want to see me?" I asked her in between bites. Billie wiped her mouth with a napkin as she swallowed the huge bite she'd taken.
"What, does a girl really need an excuse to want to hang out with her friend?" She teased me, a playful glint in her eyes.
I shook my head.
"No," I laughed. She grinned cheekily at me.
"I just wanted to hang out but since you're working, I figured I'd stop by to see you," she explained through a mouthful of food. I scrunched my noise in disgust as I nodded. I shoved another bit of salad in my mouth.
"You know she likes you, right?" Billie stated, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Who?" I asked in confusion.
"That girl you work with," she explained. Billie was now done eating her 3 burritos, so her eyes were focused on me.
"Oh please. We just met! Yes, we get along well but it's purely platonic. Stop playing," I exclaimed nervously. The idea of Sam actually liking me seemed completely delusional.
"I'm serious! I can tell those types of things. The way she was looking at you is not the way a friend looks at another friend. Trust me," she rolled her eyes.
"How does she look at me, then?" I questioned, wanting her to elaborate.
"She looks at you the same way I look at you," she muttered. I stayed silent for a moment, letting Billie's words sink in. What did she mean by "the same way I look at you"? As far as I knew, Billie saw me as a friend. Had things changed? Did her previous statement mean that she now liked me? Billie had told me the last I saw her that she'd moved on, so the possibility of her still having feelings for me was practically non existent.
Billie's voice cut my train of thoughts.
"Why won't just admit that I'm right?" She pestered as she pointed at herself. I laughed at the audacity of her question.
"You're one to talk! When we were together, I told you over and over again that Sasha clearly liked you and you never ever believed me," I retorted back bitterly. Sasha had always been a source of conflict in Billie and I's relationship. I mean, Sasha was always flirting shamelessly with her and not in a playful friendly way. Anytime I tried to voice my concerns or my insecurities about Sasha and Billie's friendship, it always ended up in an argument. I knew I was right back then, and the influence Sasha had with me ending my relationship with Billie was proof of that.
"Sasha and I's relationship is purely platonic," the singer stated as she rolled her eyes.
"Oh yeah? Then why did I see a video of you guys making out a couple of months ago?" I spat bitterly. As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted them. I didn't want Billie to think that I was jealous or something. Sasha is just a touchy subject for me and having Billie literally gaslighting me about their friendship was taking me down an unwanted trip through memory lane.
Billie's eyes widened slightly, before a smirk quickly appeared on her face.
"I see you've been keeping tabs on me. What, are you jealous?" She challenged me with a cocked eyebrow.
"I haven't been keeping tabs on you," I informed her as I glared. "It's pretty hard not to know what you're doing when you're literally all over my feed. Newsflash, Billie! You're a celebrity. I was bound to see your extracurricular activities in the news," I sassed. Billie opened her mouth to argue back, but I quickly cut her off.
