The truth about Aiyden not being Charles's son hit us like thunderbolts. In the eye of this storm, my mate decided he didn't want to uncover the identity of his birth father or the pack he originated from.
The news was a tidal wave, threatening to capsize the boat of his emotions. He didn't want to risk hurting his brother. Dr. Johnson, the harbinger of this news, had tactfully chosen to share it with just the two of us in the confines of his office.
Aiyden made us swear to keep this secret, especially from Trayvon. I agreed to his request, but I couldn't reconcile with the idea of keeping his brother in the dark. I felt he had a right to know.
However, Aiyden insisted that such a revelation would only cause his brother pain. They had finally found happiness, and he wanted to keep it that way. He promised to tell him when the time was right.
Even though I disagreed with his logic, I respected his choice.
Present time:
Hand in hand, Aiyden and I stepped into the Pack House, immediately swept up in a sea of laughter and lively banter that flowed from the dining room.
The rhythmic clatter of plates and the chiming of glasses created a melody of homely sounds that filled the air. The dining hall door, like an open invitation, stood wide open.
Suddenly, a squeak pierced the air, followed by a child's voice exclaiming, "Luna Aiyden!" like a magic spell.
A small bundle of energy with long, bouncing dark brown curls crashed into my mate like a playful puppy.
Elizabeth, the little she-wolf pup, wrapped her tiny arms around Aiyden's waist with all her might.
Aiyden's smile bloomed at the sight of her, as radiant as a rainbow after a summer rain.
Behind them was Oscar, looking as distressed as a hen with her chicks, his hand tightly holding onto his son Zyan's, who was squirming like a worm trying to escape.
Oscar bowed respectfully while his pup whimpered, still trying to wriggle free. "I'm so sorry, Alpha, Luna," he said. But I dismissed his apology; their pups were my niece and nephews, maybe not by blood, but still.
Even Onix had accepted them as part of our immediate family, just like he had accepted Alyssa as our sister, Javier and Rolf as our brothers, and had accepted Carlos and Phoenix as our pups.
Oscar finally released his son Zyan's hand when the pup reached out to me.
I quickly stooped down and scooped up Zyan, enveloping him in a warm cuddle.
Zyan hugged me back tightly, his little arms around my neck, and he nestled his head under my chin, letting out a big yawn. "Missed you, Unca Marcos," he said in his little voice after he fell asleep.
My heart swelled with immense love for the pup in my arms, and I wondered if this was how it felt to have my own children finally.
Meanwhile, my mate bent down to her level, encircling her tiny body with his arms as if shielding her from the world. I heard him ask the little princess while planting a gentle kiss on her cheek, "Why were you searching for me, sweetheart?" My gaze shifted to my mate and Elizabeth as I held Zayn closer, intrigued to hear the little pup's reply.
With a huff, Elizabeth broke free, her tiny hands resting on her hips and her foot tapping a rhythm of impatience on the floor. "You were missing, gone all night," she stated before looking at me suspiciously.
With a dash of sass, she asked, "Uncle Marcos, what did you do to our Luna?"
Oscar and Alyssa's screams of shock filled the room, "Elizabeth!" followed by my sister's stern voice.
"Elizabeth, that's no way to speak," causing the little girl to blush and bow her head in embarrassment.
