Elder Malik turned his gaze towards me, his face lighting up with a radiant smile stretching from ear to ear.
He took a step closer, his hand gently finding its place on my shoulder, providing a reassuring squeeze that seemed to radiate warmth.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, son. It's a situation that could happen to anyone. Given the circumstances, it's only natural," he reassured. I managed a nod, but there was no changing what had happened.
Aiyden's voice pierced my self-loathing, a spark shooting up my arm as he wrapped his hand around mine, our fingers locking together.
His voice, filled with genuine concern, cut through my self-pity. "Are you alright, babe?" he asked, his eyes reflecting his worry.
I turned my attention to him, my arms encircling his waist with a gentle urgency as if trying to pull our hearts closer together. Our lips met in a fleeting kiss, a moment of connection that seemed to ignite a smile on our faces.
"Everything is fine, my guiding light," I reassured him, my voice filled with love and relief.
Aiyden's gaze locked with mine, confusion and warmth mingling in his eyes, his complexion tinged with the softest pink.
"Your what?" he questioned, voice a tender echo.
My grin widened, and my heart swelled as his arms encircled my neck, his head finding solace beneath my chin. I decided to mind-link him.
"Sweetheart, you've become the light that guides the new path in my life; you are and will always be the light that guides my steps, and now that we're expecting our first pups, you also will become the light that guides their path in life..my guiding light."
Aiyden's eyes became watery, and his face was a soft pink. And whispered, "That's beautiful."
I gently pressed a kiss on my mates' heads, turning my attention to the Elders. Their eyes sparkled with pride, and their smiles were comprehensive and genuine.
I dipped my head and whispered into my mate's ear, a shiver rippling through him at the sound of my voice.
"Baby, we have to let them in on everything. They are our pack's respected Elders, and we owe them that much."
"They chose to stay and make this place their home without us even asking. Honoring them with the truth is the least we can do." Aiyden and I exchanged a knowing look, and we approached the Elders.
Together, we revealed our news, including that Aiyden was expecting twins. Elder Ruth's surprised scream caught us off guard.
She rushed to Aiyden, enveloping him in a tight hug, overflowing with happiness and pride. My protective instincts flared, and I emitted a low growl—Onix, too, shared my unease.
