AN: This is a long chapter. Please excuse any mistakes I've made.

The first day went differently than planned. We'd just arrived at the pack when Carlos, our son, and his mate Lucas pulled us aside for a private chat. Only Ian and Axel were invited to join us, along with our mates.
Once everyone else had turned in for the night, we found ourselves in the sanctuary of Marcos's office.
The tension was thick, almost tangible, and I couldn't help but notice the worry etched on Carlos and Lucas's faces.
Marcos settled into his chair behind the desk, Aiyden sitting beside him. Ian and Axel claimed one of the couches. Trayvon and I shared a chair, and my mate comfortably sat on my lap. We left the couch directly across from Marcos's desk vacant, a silent invitation for Carlos and Lucas.
Once everyone was settled, Marcos turned his attention to the nervous teens and asked, "Alright, kiddo, what's on your mind?"
Carlos's hands were shaking, a stark contrast to the stillness of the room. The Alpha's office was a sanctuary of simplicity, the walls lined with understated art and the air heavy with the scent of authority. He took a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady his voice.
"There's something I need to tell you guys," he began, his voice barely audible. His gaze was fixed on the floor as if he couldn't bear to meet our eyes. The words seemed to weigh heavily on him, "I want to move to the Black Forrest Pack once this is all over, at least until I finish high school."
His words came out of the blue, leaving us stunned and our minds racing to understand what he'd just said.
The weight of his decision hung in the air, thick as fog. Not a sound from Marcos or me. We exchanged a puzzled look with Ian and Axel.
Ian confirmed, "Carlos had called us a few days ago about this." My mind returned to the present when my son's words finally registered.
I turned to Carlos, my disappointment and hurt slipping into my words, "Like hell, you will! Why is this the first we're hearing about it?"
Marcos signaled for calm. "Hold up. Let's hear him out. We've sensed some weird vibes between him and Lucas. We've been on standby, hoping they'd open up."
Our gaze shifted to Carlos and Lucas. Lucas was a wreck, quietly crying. Aiyden and Trayvon wore shock on their faces, eyeing the teens.
Carlos offered a regretful glance. "I'm sorry, Dad, Papa, that I didn't tell you before, but there are things that I need to work out on my own. I didn't want to bother you guys with my problems when more important issues are happening now."
Frustration simmering, I let out a sigh that could've blown down a house. "You can't be serious? Do you even know how much we love you?" I could feel my mate's eyes on me, reading me like a book, knowing I was a hair's breadth from blowing my top.
