"I'll send the coordinates to your phones," I nodded and said, "Thank you, Xander." He nodded and left to sit in front of the laptop.
Then, a figure slipped past us, stopping before Elder Malik and Elder Jonas. The familiar scent of my mate filled the air, drawing my attention to the door.
Meanwhile, Rexx's voice cut through the tension, "Why the hell wasn't I told you caught those bastards who hurt my mate?" His anger was palpable, but I understood. I would feel the same if someone hurt Aiyden.
However, I was the Alpha, and Rexx wasn't yet a pack member. Onix was pacing and growling in my head, wanting to come out and put the Wolf in front of us in his place, but I pushed him back; there were more important things or, better said, people we needed to take care of now.
"Rexx, you need to cool down," I warned. He seemed to take a moment, then nodded.
"I'm sorry, Alpha Marcos. I just... I hope you understand."
With a nod of agreement, my eyes darted to Elder Malik. "Mind escorting Rexx to the dungeon?" I asked. As Rexx exited the room, Malik gave a nonchalant shrug.
Standing like a pillar beside me, my mate received a quick peck on the cheek as my attention returned to Malik.
Elder Jonas, arms folded, watched the scene unfold with an unreadable expression.
The others? They were engrossed in their chatter. "Elder Malik, can you ensure Rexx doesn't turn those humans into mincemeat?" I asked.
The Elder smirk was as wide as it was unsettling. "No guarantees," he replied.
My eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "And why's that?"
His smirk widened. "Well, who's to say I won't get caught up chatting with the guards while Rexx has his fun? Or maybe I'll forget he's even there while gossiping with the new dungeon guard."
I turned to Elder Jonas, his arms crossed defiantly over his chest.
He shrugged nonchalantly, 'Indeed, there is a law against the murder of humans, but it only covers mindless killing. However, that law is invalid when humans harm us. The latter is applicable here. Those humans attacked one of your pack members without cause. In this situation, the Council cannot interfere. The choice is yours, Alpha Marcos.'
A whisper floated to me, Aiyden's voice, sweet as honey, 'Babe, that's correct. Moreover, this should be Rexx's decision as Johnson's mate. He will soon join the pack, so it's only right.' My gaze shifted from Aiyden to Elder Jonas, finally landing on Elder Malik with a resigned sigh.
Elder Malik stated, 'Alpha, Rexx has already dealt with those who hurt his mate in the past. This is no different.'
I nodded in agreement, 'Okay, but make sure it's not done on pack grounds. Take a few warriors with you after we leave.'
