NATALIA GRIMES, she was delicate like a flower, a flower that could be found on the warmest days, bright and full of color. her heart was pure, not yet doused by the fuel of hatred, filled with vengeance and the blood that was bound to stain her beating, once pure, heart. hands not yet stained by the blood that could only follow her like a heavy shadow that she couldn't run from, couldn't escape no matter how bard she tried to. her eyes warm and not showing a sign of hatred or anger, long before either of those things could fill her eyes, fill the warmth of the blue that swirled within them. it seemed as if she was incapable of showing such an emotion, void of any hatred, void of any ill intentions, natalia was warm, sweet like honey from the fullest bee hive. sweet like an overbearing slice of cake, a girl that was nothing more then a child from the son. the blistering georgia sunbeat restlessly against the few people who made it to the small camp they had made. hidden away from the horrors that consumed the city of Atlanta, away from the dead that had begun to walk and roam the earth, sinking their teeth into anything that had a pulse, anything that was warm and had blood still pumping. what had happened in this city had spread across the globe in less then a week, the nightmare that had consumed everyone and their lives. bringing something that was could once be woken from, into someothignt that could not be outrun, nataliia knew that now. the small camp bustling with people, each from different backgrounds, from different places, each caught up in their own things. each attempting to make themselves feel the slightest bit normal, that's what they each craved. anything that reminded them of what they'd considered normal, weather it be washing clothes or studying. anything that made them forget about their nightmare for even a few moments, it was worth it to forget, even if it only did last a few seconds.
it was a miracle that anyone from atlanta had survived. the night that the city had fallen, natalia had witnessed bombs being dropped into the city. watched as flames grew, engulfing anything and everything that had been left in the city. she remembered hearing the distant screams, the pleas from the people who hadn't escaped, who hadn't gathered their belongings and made a run for it when the time was right- when they still had time to run. the sky had gone dark, the light pollution that had once been, simply, ceased to exist,. thunder boomed loudly, almost as if it had been mourning those who had lost their lives due to the bombs, and rain poured, washing away the evidence of the lies that had been lost, the blood that had been shed on the concrete, on the cars and in the homes. it was truly soul crushing. witnessing first hand as the city collapsed in on its self, listen to the piercing screams that came from those who hadn't yet been affected by the virus. it was a sound she was sure she'd never forget, a sight that would never leave her brain no matter how hard she tried. it was one of those things that seemed to stick with a person, remaining for a lifetime. something that shaped someone, changed the chemical balance in their brain, something that could not be fixed if one day, things did fix themselves and everything went back to what it once was.
