THE CAMPFIRE SIZZLED the embers twirling in the air. the camp was relatively silent. the sky was filled with stars, colette felt like it was the most stars she'd ever seen before. her head rested against her fathers bicep, her arms wrapped tightly around his arm in fear he'd disappear as quick as he reappeared.

he spoke softly to the group, speaking of what happened when he woke, what went through his head seeing everything in a ruin.

carls head rested in his fathers lap, while lori rested against ricks opposite arm. the look of shock was still apparent on her features, though a look of relief was also hidden within her dark brown eyes.

"disoriented. fear confusion all those things, but disoriented. that comes closest" rick told, his eyes scanning those who sat listening to what he was saying. "words can be meters, they can come short" dale added, taking a drink from his cup before setting it down. only earning a slow nod from rick.

"i felt like i was ripped from my life and put somewhere else. like i was in a coma that i'd never wake up from" he told, looking down to lori who had snuggled more into her husbands side. hands gripping his shirt sleeves, his eyes glancing to the women before down to his two children. both holding on tightly to their father.

"mom said you were dead" carl told softly, glancing up to his father. his words being taken straight from colette's tongue. "she had every right to believe that. don't you ever doubt it." rick told, running his hand up and down loris arm. colette stared at her mother, her eyes speaking what the grimes girl couldn't say with her father present.

then her eyes shifted to shane, a glare evident in her eyes as she glared at the curly hair man. "when things got bad, the hospital told us that they'd be moving you and other patients to atlanta. they never did that" the women told, looking to rick who nodded. shrugging slightly, "well i'm not surprised, after atlanta fell." rick told, lori nodding her head at his words, mumbling a soft yeah.

"and from the looks of it that hospital got over run." he added.

"and looks don't deceive, i barley got them out" the walsh man told, his words trailing off as he spoke. his voice slowly going silent. "and i am grateful for that shane. i can't even begin to express it" rick told the man who nodded his head, looking to his feet.

the small group of people went silent apun hearing the sound of wood cracking and fire embers growing. shane was quick to stand, going to confront ed, the culprit of the extra wood piece.

"i think it's about time to turn in" lori told the two grimes kids, both nodding as they stood. the two adults too getting ready to turn in headed for their tent. "where ya going?" rick questioned his daughter who pointed to where lee sat, "im just gonna go say goodnight" she told her father who nodded. following his wife and youngest child to their tent.
