THE AIR REEKED, the smell of decaying bodies burned the girls nose. bodies littered the ground, crows picking at the dead people, eating the remaining flesh that lingered on their bodies.

sand bags sat piled up, creating barricades. tanks and other larger military vehicles sat around, heaps of used ammunition littered the ground. the sky slightly darker, clouds filling the sky. colette's hand covered her mouth, taking slower breaths; forcing herself to hold her breathe for a few moments in order to not breathe in the scent of pure death.

her stomach churned, looking at one of the bodies by her feet. a bullet hole in the dead center of the women's forehead, her skin a sickly pale, no trace of color in her skin. her eyes looked to rick, his hand motioning for them to follow after him, a finger pressed against his lips.

the grimes girl followed silently, stepping over limbs that laid in the way. moving so quietly she wondered if she looked silly, the way she lifted her legs, moving them far over the limbs that laid, the skin coated in blood splatters.

the group slowed to a stop, staring at the building. shutters keeping the entry closed off, the metal grate that stood taunting them with the fact they couldn't enter. helplessness had began to settle deep within colette's stomach, the cdc had overrun, any trace of people being wiped clean.

the sky had began to get significantly darker, the sun beginning to set, leaving little to no light left. shane and rick began to attempt to push the metal door, beating their fists wildly against it. "they're a no body here" t-dog spoke, rick shook his head lightly. readjusting his hold on the shotgun he held. "then why are these shutters down?" rick questioned, sending a questioning glance to t-dog who could only bring himself to shrug his shoulders.

the sound of growls filled their ears, "walkers!" daryl called out, shooting an arrow into the walkers head. watching the body hit the ground with a thud, the dixon man was quick to pull the arrow from the dead's head. reloading his crossbow as the group attempted to convince rick to leave. "this is over man!" shane called out to rick, the sun setting quicker then before. the sky nearly completely pitch black.

colette looked around the group worriedly, keeping an eye for any of the dead that may be creeping up on them. "we're to close to the city! we need to leave! now!" lori told, her hands gripping her sons shoulders, keeping him close to her front.

her eyes jumping between rick and colette, keeping an eye on both of them. "where do we go?" carol questioned, her voice barley loud enough for colette to register what she had been saying. "fort benning! i told yall!" shane told, though while rick was stuck staring at the camera colette spoke up.
