THE CLOUDS HAD FOR THE MOST PART DISAPPEARED. sitting over the city of atlanta, dark in color and plump with heavy fat rain drops, preparing for the second part of the rain shower. thunder still boomed through the sky, loudly, though it grew more and more quiet the further the clouds drifted away from the quarry. it shook the earth, rattled deep within their ears, only causing their nerves to spike. no one was prepared to admit that the chances of their people returning was slim, no one was ready to do so, for if they did, then they'd have to deal with the mere fact their family and friends wouldn't be coming home. they'd have to grief, come to terms with the fact that they had sent there people out on a suicide run. that itself was a tough pill to swallow, one that no one was prepared to take. the camp had fallen into silence, everyone silently praying their people would return unscathed. return to them and not be lost in the city of atlanta, wondering mindlessly until the end of the earth. finding random chores around camp to keep themselves busy, keep their minds focused on anytime else except their family members.

natalia felt more guilty now then she had earlier, hating how she was thinking when people were worrying for their loved ones. their alive loved ones. she knew jealousy wasn't a good look on anyone, but it was an emotion she had no control over, one the had silently burrowed within her chest, hiding from the outside world, painting her heart a bright green color. a color only she could see, only she could feel. her knee bounced softly, her hands clutched a basket in her lap and eyes focused on the walsh boy who sat beside her. his hands messing with the berries natalia had found, given to him to check for poison. he'd found ways to busy himself around the camp. he often found himself chopping up logs for fire wood, helping create piles of the wood by the fire pits, working under the hood on the dales camper van, attempting to keep the vehicle up and working. anything to keep himself busy,  just like everyone else. lee had taken it upon himself to teach natalia how to find edible berries, how to look them over and determine if they were safe to eat or not, how to not accidentally poison their group. the grimes girl truthfully had tried her best to follow along with what he was telling her, understand ti the best of her abilities. though, lee spoke very fast, his words jumbling into one another, not giving the white haired girl enough time to truly understand what he was saying. which had resulted in him having to re-explain what he had already told her once. it gave him the excuse to tug on her hand, pull her deeper into the woods as they looked over what little food they could find. with a small sigh the boy set down the knife he'd been fiddling with, busying himself by carving into the handle of the knife. "let's see." lee smiled softly at the girl, gently taking the basket from her hands, his brows raised, a teasing smile settling onto his lips. natalia smiled warmly at the boy, her eyes bright as she looked between him and the berries she'd found. "i did what you said. they should be good." natalia told softly, her voice gentle as she looked to him with gentle eyes. he smiled softly at he glanced to the grimes girl, the corners of his eyes slightly wrinkling at the girl who pursed her lips at him.
