THE CLOUDS HAD for the most part disappeared, sitting over the city of atlanta. thunder still booming through the sky. the camp has fallen into silence, everyone caught up in their own feelings, sadness radiating the group. hung high above their heads at the thought of their loved ones not coming home.

colette sat beside lee, watching the boy check the berries she'd found. the basket sat in his lap as he threw out the bad ones. "hey i checked those !" colette told the boy, pointing to a small pile of berries in the furthest corner of the basket. "doesn't look like it" lee sassed the girl, picking a few of the berries she'd checked before tossing them over his shoulder.

"i did it the way you taught me to. maybe you don't know what your talking about" she told, watching the boy shrug his shoulders. "no one's been poisoned because of me." he remarked with a playful smile, watching the girl who was quick to roll her eyes. his hand held the basket to the girl who stood reaching to grasp the berries. glaring at the boy who was quick to move the basket from her reach.

"what do you say?" he questioned grinning at the girl, "thanks. now give me the basket" she told, rolling her eyes at the boy, "please" she added to which he smiled handing her the basket of berries. rolling her eyes colette turned on her heels, making her way up the small hill, finding her mother cutting carls hair, while he complained about it.

it made colette smile faintly, seeing her mother do something she used to do often. seeing carl react the same way he had used to, it gave her a sense of reassurance because maybe the world would go back to how it was if they could act normal.

she hoped the world would go back, she desperately wished it would.

her hand gently set the basket of berries onto the ground, taking a seat beside amy who was folding clothes. her eyes red and puffy, small tear stains evident on her cheeks from when she was crying.

the two sat it silence for a moment, colette reaching to help the blonde finish the chore she was working on. "i'm sorry about shane, he's a dick" colette told the girl who shrugged, amy smiled softly at the teen beside her. the two being slightly close in age. "tell me about it." amy let out a short dry laugh, her hands still busy with folding the basket of clothes in the basket.

the brown haired girl nodded, a small smile on her lips. "for what it's worth i think they'll make it back. gleen knows what he's doing, he knows the city." colette told the blonde who smiled softly, nodding slowly at the girls words. "andreas strong, she'll be fine" colette added, shrugging slightly as she folded another article of clothing.

"you really think so?" amy questioned softly to which colette nodded, sending a reassuring smile to amy. "she loves you amy, she'll do whatever she has to do to get back to you." the grimes girl told, watching amy smile with a nod. amy went to open her mouth to say something, though she was cut off by the sound of a siren blaring. "talk to me dale!" shane yelled to the man standing atop the camper van.

a pair of binoculars in hand, "i can't see anything." he remarked, squinting to get a better look. "do you think that's them?" amy questioned, glancing to the slightly shorter grimes girl, "hopefully" she replied truthfully, earning a nod from amy.

the car pulled to a stop, gleen jumping out with a large grin plastered on his face. "pop the hood" shane told the boy who was being yelled at by amy. "is she okay? is she alive?" amy yelled to gleen who was also getting yelled at by shane. "amy hold on" colette told the girl, gently pulling her a few steps away from gleen. "is andrea okay?" she questioned once more, the alarm had finally cut out.

"yes she's fine! they all are!" gleen told, looking to the red car he'd stolen. "well merle not so much" gleen told as amy grinned looking to colette. "i told you she'd be fine" the grimes girl told amy who nodded, "you crazy driving this wheeling bastard up here? you trying to draw in every walker for miles?" shane questioned gleen who huffed, looking to his feet in annoyance.

dale shrugged looking around the camp, "i think we're okay" he told shane who looked over his shoulder to glare at the older man. "you call being reckless okay?" shane questioned the man, "well no, but that sound was jumping all over these hills hard to pinpoint where it's coming from" dale told. resulting in shane turning with his hands resting on his hips.

"i'm not arguing i'm just saying! but it wouldn't hurt to think things through next time." dale told switching his attention to gleen who nodded his head. looking to the red car, "got a cool car" he told in defeat, looking behind him as a truck pulled up.

"it is pretty cool" colette told gleen who smiled softly to the girl, colette watched as families reunited, hugging one another. feeling the security of having they're loved ones back in their arms. it burned a piece of colette's chest, her heart slightly wrenching at the thought of never having that again.

a arm wrapped itself around colette's shoulders, slightly pulling her into their side. lee only sighed, feeling colette's arms wrap themselves around his torso. the side of her face pressed into his side. her eyes catching a glimpse of carl crying with lori holding him into her chest. lee had been there the day her father got shot, the days that she practically couldn't get herself out of her bed, he'd drag her up. lee had always been there, and he had promised her he always would.

his hand gently traced small circles onto her bicep, feeling her arms slightly tighten around him.

"how'd you guys get out?" dale questioned, a man colette had never met looked up from his family. "the new guy helped us. yo helicopter boy! come say hello" he called to the van, dale had questioned him about the nickname, though colette had blocked the conversation out. her lungs feeling like they couldn't quit take any air in, her arms pulling away from lee.

carl seemed to be the first to react, "dad!" his voice cried out as he ran to their father. his arms wrapping themselves around his neck. colette had to force herself out of shock, her legs having a mind of their own as colette crashed into her fathers embrace. his arms wrapped tightly around his kids, holding them close to him. tears pouring down the threes faces as lori was the third to crash into her husbands arms.

her lungs froze, her heart beat faster then she could comprehend, her hands shook yet standing with her father, whom she thought was dead, she felt safe.
