Cierra and I broke up. It was inevitable; I never took the relationship seriously.
I've started avoiding Hazel at all costs, but when I hang out with my friends, I always find myself next to Derrick of all people. We've been getting pretty close. Whenever we talk, I steal a glimpse of Hazel across the room. She's usually trying to have a conversation of her own, but she can't help but watch us. I wonder if she thinks I'll tell him what we've been up to.
December 2nd. Derrick invites me over to watch a basketball game with him and the wife, drink a little beer as well. "It's too bad you and Cierra broke up. You two looked good together," he says, shaking his head. Yeah, we did. I could look good with anyone. I glance at Hazel who's sipping her beer, staring at the floor. She's listening though.
"Yeah, it was nice while it lasted, but she was crazy." I shrug my shoulders. Take a good gulp of beer. "Kept accusing me of cheating on her." Hazel snaps her gaze to me. "Can't even imagine doing that to someone, though." I squeeze the couch cushion as we stare at each other. I'm sure my cum is embedded in the fabric somewhere.
Derrick grabs my shoulder and shakes it. As if to say, you're as good as they get. But he doesn't say anything, his attention is stolen by the TV as he stands up to shout something. Don't know what though, I'm too busy locking eyes with his wife. She's wearing sweatpants and a loose t-shirt. Hair tied up in a messy bun. She looks good. I miss her. I point to the kitchen, hoping she'll meet me there.
She pours me a glass of water and places it just out of reach. I admire the loose hairs framing her face just right, the way she doesn't even have to try. "Why are you doing this?" She asks.
I reach for the water, but she pulls it away. "Doing what?" I ask. How ironic is this. Pouring me a glass of water, just to tease me with it. Isn't that what she's best at.
She looks me dead in the eyes. She looks, I don't know, angry? I rarely see her angry, so I can't be certain. "You're getting close with Derrick after making it obvious you and I aren't friends anymore. I was willing to forgive you, to forget everything..." her voice kind of fades out as I stop listening. I'm sure I already understand what she's trying to say, so there's no point in listening to her ramble on and on and on.
She just wants to be friends again, that's what this is all about. She's obviously upset with me for ignoring her so much lately. Lucky for her, I'm starting to miss her. "I want to be friends again," I interrupt.
She's quiet, still looking at me with that face. But her look softens. She slides the glass over to me, then walks back to the living room, to her husband. She gives him a long, drawn out kiss. I sip my water.
