Two Can Play The Game++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Author's POV
“Are you sure you got the information right?” Jeongguk questioned lowly as soon as he felt Hyun-Joo's presence beside him. His eyes remained to the front, specifically on Jimin who was talking to Court Lady Park with multiples of herbs displayed on a table in front of them not so far away from him.
Jeongguk never thought Jimin would be one that was curious in making medicines. But he guessed he could expect so because the older one seemed to be interested in everything that needed to be experimented on first. And so far, he found that about Jimin rather amusing. That husband of his clearly didn't lack intelligence…
“You know I won't tell you if I'm uncertain.” Hyun-Joo replied and Jeongguk couldn't help but to sigh in frustration. The older man made a point, Jeongguk knew well how precise he was when given a task and he knew Hyun-Joo wouldn't be so careless. But then again, what about his father? The elder obviously had denied.
“I asked His Majesty regarding this.” He spoke after a while, still not moving his eyes from Jimin. But instead of smiling, he had a serious facial expression plastered across his face. “And he denied the speculation…” He spoke truthfully, mind clouded with heavy thoughts. The roads were getting blurry for him and he didn't know if he should continue or turn around. It was hard to see.
“I mean… You ask the wrong person though.” Jeongguk raised his eyebrows at that and finally glanced at Hyun-Joo. He's not stupid, clearly he knew what the older man meant by the wrong person. But Jeongguk wanted to know what made him say so.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean you're stupid.” Hyun-Joo spat and watched the crown prince frown upon his words. “Tell me, how many years had it been for the Kangs to hate Jeons? Many. Probably over twenty years old already even though none of us knew the reason. They are sworn enemies. Just like the Kangs and the Parks…” Hyun-Joo sighed while explaining.
“And you asking a Jeon about the Kang isn't the best decision. It's like pouring oil over a blazing fire, Jeongguk.”
The crown prince hummed, drowning in his thoughts as questions after questions rushed to fill his brain. There were so many of them unanswered and he started to feel exhausted. He couldn't help but to wonder what had happened between the two lineages. What could possibly happen? Was it their fault or the Jeons? If so then does it have anything to do with the Parks? Or do they have entirely different reasons?
Jeongguk groaned when those inquiries seemed not going anywhere near the bottom soon.
“Have you found the name yet?” He asked, setting the topic aside and focused on Hyun-Joo once more who shook his head disappointedly. “I tried but there was no record for the last descendant, almost as if he never existed.” Hyun-Joo frowned before continuing. “I almost thought the whole thing was fake but then again, there was a birthdate and death date.”
“But what about the Norigae?”
“It could be the culprit just happened to have the same design or he stole it. Or…” Hyun-Joo trailed off, looking uncertain about what he wanted to say as Jeongguk eyed him in silence, patiently waiting. “Or what, Hyun?”
