Author's POV

Taehyung was shivering against the cold tiles as he slumped himself at the edge of the cell. He was no longer wearing a Gujangbok and instead, replaced it with plain white clothing that was stained in crimson red. It hurts… His whole body ached. 

Heavy breaths left his mouth as he let himself cry silently. He didn't want to cry, no… But the pain was too much for him. The betrayal was too much for him. 

“Your Highness…” A low sinister voice greeted him mockingly, catching his attention as he looked to the side. 

His heart beat rapidly increased as his eyes flared up in red looking over the shadow. “You!” He hissed and immediately ran towards the person, holding out his hands to reach them but to his dismay, the cells were in between. “You fucking traitor!!” He yelled as the man in front of him chuckled bitterly. 

“Shh…” The man put a finger over his lips. “You don't want the guards to come here again, do you?” He questioned and watched Taehyung's mouth left wide open in shock by the mention. He eyed the 4th prince, smirking a little when he noticed the blood stains. 

“You-” Taehyung was lost at his words, finally connecting all the puzzles. “You told them to beat me, d-didn't you? You paid them to do this-”

“Oh no no, I don't pay them.” He chuckled once again, cutting Taehyung's words who only stared at the man with teary eyes and a hope that was crushed beneath his feet in one step. It felt like his body was dying, helplessly wanting to take another breath to keep going. But he couldn't, he dipped his toe in the wrong ocean without knowing how deep it was and now he was drowning. 

“It's called power, Taehyung… And you don't have any.”

“How dare you?!” He yelled and banged the cells but not hard enough to make a loud sound. “I will tell this to everyone!! I will make sure you regret it!! I will tell everyone your filthy plans and prove my innocence!! I will tell everything to Jeongg-” He shut his eyes tightly as his mouth gaped open, feeling the air he breathed sunk heavily down his throat and choked him. 

“Say it. Say his name.” The man urged, tightened his hand around Taehyung's throat as his dark eyes flared in wrath. 

The 4th prince gasped helplessly while his fingers making their way to hold the man's wrist, pleading him to let go. “L-let me g-”

“I dare you to say his name again.” He harshly spat and let Taehyung go after a while, watching the prince slumped on the floor while coughing out loud. Smirking, he kneeled down to the same height, staring at Taehyung whose face was red and out of breath and… weak. Pathetic, was the first word that came into his mind by the view. 

“W-why?” Taehyung stuttered, holding onto his neck and gazed over the man. “W-why are y-you doing t-this?”

A groan left Jeongguk's mouth when someone knocked on his door, stirring him from his deep slumber. He opened his eyes slowly, giving them time to adjust and then sat up against the bed, letting his long hair fall over his shoulder blade.
