Wooyoung's birthday quickly became the worst day of his life.

He didn't question what he had done to deserve what happened. He knew the risks of falling in love with his professor. Getting expelled somehow isn't what pained him the most, it was the dead silence from the man who made a promise to love him forever. But how could he blame him after ruining his life?

San lost his job as an English professor at the university. News was quick to spread, which only made things harder for the two others that were temporarily suspended. Nearly every student knew about the unethical relationship between the two. Constant questions were thrown at Seonghwa and Yunho, but they refused to comment.

Today would've marked the day the semester ended. The 13th of December. Which meant it had already been two weeks since anyone had spoken to San. Everyone tried, but he refused to reply. Not even to Wooyoung. The former student had called and texted every single day, refusing to give up. Through everything, a promise was still a promise.

"Hey, Sannie." Wooyoung sighed, smearing his body with glitter as he left yet another voicemail. "I hope you're doing better today. I miss you. I know you miss me too, otherwise you would've blocked my number by now. You listen to all of these, that's why I haven't stopped. Just don't forget that I love you, okay? I'm yours...and you're mine. I hope."

"Still didn't answer?" Yeosang asked, heartbroken for his old friend.

"Nope."

"Why haven't you gone to his house? Didn't you used to just barge in?"

"He needs space."

"But you keep calling him."

"So he doesn't forget about me." Wooyoung sadly smiled.

To distract himself from the excruciating pain, Wooyoung decided to return to his life of being a stripper full time at Cyberpunk.

Hongjoong still offered him the partnership for the club as his birthday gift. After a week, Wooyoung realized that San was going to ghost him. So he made the decision to reject the offer. No one understood, but the former student didn't see what was so difficult to comprehend. He wanted to leave his life of being a stripper behind him because of San. Now he was slipping through his fingers, making him see that he truly was never good enough to live a better life.

"Wooyoungie, tone it down with the alcohol tonight. Please." Hongjoong stressed. His constant worries were practically crippling.

"I'm fine." Wooyoung smiled, then took a bottle with him on stage. "I'm fine." He repeated to himself, ready to put on a show.

It had been ten minutes and the obnoxious knocks on San's front door didn't seem to stop. He knew it had to be Seonghwa or Yunho, which is exactly why he didn't bother to answer. He wanted nothing more than to be alone.

Especially after listening to Wooyoung's recent voicemail.

San hadn't missed a single one. Just hearing his voice was agonizing, but he wasn't ready to move on. He still loved Wooyoung with all his heart, he was nearly positive he'd never stop, but he had to try. Loving a student was the worst thing he ever could've done.

"Choi San, I know you're in there!" Yunho shouted from outside. "Can't we talk just this once?" No. San didn't want to speak with anyone. He wasn't sure what else he had to do in order to make that clear. "You know how I respect you? By not going through your garage that I know is unlocked."

The moment San heard that, he raced off his couch and ran to his garage door to make sure it was locked. But of course, Yunho beat him to it.

"Why?" San groaned, in no mood whatsoever.

"You look terrible."

"But at least I'm alive. That should be enough. You can go tell everyone to leave me the fuck alone now."

"Good enough for me." Yunho shrugged, only being sent as a messenger by Seonghwa. "See you around."

San instantly felt guilty as he watched Yunho walk back to his car. He came all this way just to check on him and he acted like an asshole without a second thought.

"Come in." He sighed. "It's cold."

"Damn right it is." Yunho rushed inside, not needing to be asked twice. "Your house is so much nicer than mine, what the fuck." He pouted.

"Wooyoung cleaned a lot." San mumbled.

"But it's been two weeks. How is it still this clean?"

"Because I haven't touched anything."

Yunho joined San on the couch, then held his arms out for a hug. "Come here, I know you want to."

"I really don't."

"It'll make you feel better."

"Stop."

Yunho moved closer to San and crushed him in a tight grip, pushing their cheeks together.

"You're okay." He sounded much more serious than before while he held his friend in his arms and allowed him to softly cry on his shoulder.

"No, I'm really not."

"I know, but your life isn't over."

"How, Yunho? How is my life not over?" He choked out as he held his friend tighter, wishing it was someone else.

"You're not in jail, you still have your house, and you can easily get another job. You didn't commit any crimes, San. You just broke a few rules, that's all."

"What else am I supposed to do with myself? I've worked so hard just to be a teacher."

"And you hate it, Seonghwa hates it, and I hate it. Let's all quit and go somewhere else."

"I know what you're thinking, and it'll never happen."

"Which is stupid, but I wasn't gonna say it."

"I'm not going to throw this degree away just to work at a fucking strip club."

"Was that meant to be shady? Because it sounded real shady to me."

"Fuck." San groaned, not meaning it that way whatsoever. "How does he not hate me?"

"He told me it's because he made a promise that he intends to keep."

"What the hell is wrong with him?"

What San meant was that he didn't understand why Wooyoung was still trying after being the reason he was kicked out of college. The hatred the former student should feel for him is nonexistent.

"He loves you, that's the short answer."

"He's gotta get over it."

Hearing that broke Yunho's heart. He wanted San to fight for the boy he loved, not throw him away out of guilt.

"Do you hate him?"

"Tell him I do."

"You don't mean that."

"He needs to let it go, Yunho."

"But why, other than your guilt? He feels the exact same way, but he loves y-"

"Because I never should've been with him in the first place. I don't care if he loves me, I don't care if he feels the same way. This was wrong and it should've been stopped."

"I'll rely the message then." Yunho sighed, then stood up. "Tell him you hate him and that he needs to move on, right?"

"Yup."

"If you change your mind, you know where to find him."

"I won't."

"You will."

"What makes you so sure?"

Yunho smiled, standing halfway out the front door. "I just know. Bye, San."

"Yeah, bye."
