Annika exhales slowly and softly, before a yawn escapes her lips, prompting her to clamp her hands over her mouth.
She's been cooped up for hours since Shivaay brought her a bowl of homemade porridge and berries. Saumya had been talking to her, ever since, chatting away, all the while that Annika listened in silence.
"—— and then I told Dumbbell Singh Oberoi, that if he wanted to," Saumya halts, as her eyes snag onto Annika's who startled when Saumya shakes her gently. "Bhabhi?" The bubbly younger girl frowns, "Is everything alright?"
Annika opens her mouth—— debating on whether or not to voice out the question that's been on her mind for hours now—— since the previous night. Closing her mouth, she blinks at Saumya before sighing with a soft and reassuring smile. "Everything is fine, Saumya."
Saumya's frown is slight but visible as the younger woman shrugs and nods. "Alright," Saumya exhales a breath. "If you need something, just let me know."
Annika nods, watching as Saumya walks out the door and disappears around the corner.
Sighing, she pushes back the bowl of sliced fruits before heading down to the kitchen, and halting in her place as she spots Priyanka and Rudra fighting over a singular slice of apple.
Jahnvi sits at the table, typing away on her laptop while Pinky scribbles on a journal, all the while that Jahnvi lists a bunch of numbers which flies over Annika's head.
"Annika," Pinky's face breaks into a smile as she spots her daughter-in-law, who shifts awkwardly on her feet. "Come on, beta. Did you have your breakfast?"
"Oh, erm, yes," Annika shows the empty bowl to her.
"You didn't have to bring it here, beta," Pinky smiles. "Mamta," Pinky raises her voice, before a woman in a grey and white suit, rushes towards them. "Bring the rest of the dishes from Annika and Shivaay's room."
Nodding, the woman named Mamta rushes off.
"I would've brought it myself," Annika smiles awkwardly.
"Nonsense," Pinky waves her off. "Take a seat. Shivaay is at work, and he'll be back soon." Annika nods. "Oh, Shivaay told me that you need to go to the hospital," Pinky frowns. "Who'll drop you? You're still too weak to drive by yourself——"
"Choti Maa, breathe," Rudra interrupts.
"Zip it, khoteya," Pinky rolls her eyes.
"Priyanka," Jahnvi looks at her niece, who halts momentarily, allowing Rudra to snatch the last piece of apple on the plate. "You're driving over to Ranveer's, right? Drop Annika on the way."
Annika watches as Priyanka's earlier smile disappears. Her sister-in-law glances at her with her lips straightened into a thin line.
Annika glances at Priyanka who shrugs and nods at Jahnvi who smiles in satisfaction.
