Heavy footfalls approach her as she places a hand over her mouth, muffling the whimper which escapes. The pain on her hip is nearly unbearable, and she knows she has a few hours at most, before the blood loss leads her to faint on an abandoned road in Preston, northern England.
Annika breathes in sharply, wincing as she presses a hand to her injured hip.
Sweat trickles down the side of her head, and she rests her head against the cold metallic wall of the abandoned factory.
Annika cranes her neck, peeking from behind the crates and breathing out a sigh of relief.
They're not here—— she thinks, relieved.
The sudden grip on her arm and nails digging into her skin make her scream as she is pulled up harshly.
The pain burns its way up and down from the spot, which blood gushes out of—— someone kicks her, the edge of their boots hitting the gash—— and it nearly blinds her, making her let out a dry heave, as nausea rolls around.

Annika bolts upright, hands pressed to her mouth, fearful that the people—— who'd been chasing her—— would return.
The first thing she registers is the dim glow from a strange shaped lamp.
An octopus shaped lamp.
She frowns.
Why an octopus?
Shaking her head, Annika's eyes drift to the person beside her—— laying on the bed.
She muffles a startled scream as soon as she registers who it is—— Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
Her husband.
Right.
She sighs.
Pressing a finger to her temple, she tries to chase away the horrible nightmare her brain had conjured.
Annika pauses.
Had that been a mere nightmare—— a product of her imagination?
Or had it been a memory?
She exhales through gritted teeth, eyebrows furrowing as irritation claws the base of her spine.
She glances at Shivaay who shifts on the bed, mumbling softly. "Is everything alright?"
Annika lays down on the bed, watching as Shivaay grapples around in his sleep.
