Annika taps the side of her plate absentmindedly as the family chatters and laughs around her—— a cacophony of noises that blends in the background as she stares at the empty plate in front of her.

"Mamma," she looks at Karthik who is frowning at her, chocolate staining the corners of his mouth. "You're not eating," he pouts.

She glances down at her plate, before shaking her head quickly. "I was just thinking about something, baby," she smiles softly.

"What would you like, Mamma?" Karthik beams brightly, grabbing a plate of waffles and struggling to lift it with his arms. "Uhhh—— they are really delic—— oh no!"

Shivaay's arm shoots out to grab the plate as it wobbles. "Calm down, my little Prince," he chuckles. He turns to face his wife, who sits across him, smiling softly, "Would you like some waffles, darling?"

Annika feels herself stiffening at the term of endearment, before giving him a tight-lipped smile, "I'm perfectly fine with just," her eyes darting around and she grabs the bowl in front, "halwa and aloo puri."

She notices the way Shivaay's deep blue eyes lose their spark as the words leave her mouth. He takes a smile, and nods, before placing the plate of waffles in front of him with a quiet and defeated sigh.

Annika feels her stomach twisting, feeling sorry for the man in front of her as he returns to his own meal in front of him.

Annika's eyes dart towards Omkara who is looking at her with a frown, prompting her to glare back at him.

He has no rights to tell her how she can or cannot feel!—— she tears a morsel of puri before placing it in her mouth and chewing slowly.

"What are you three planning on doing today?" Pinky's question halts Annika's actions, as she glances at her mother-in-law with a puzzled frown.

"Arre, now that you know that Cheeku is your son and we don't have to hide him from you anymore——" Rudra starts in a jovial tone, before he pauses once it registers just what he's said, as his eyes widen.

Annika stiffens, tightening her fingers before glancing at Karthik who leans eagerly on his seat as his eyes dart from Annika to Shivaay and back.

She was willing to work to mend the broken trust, but she felt it to be far too soon for either of them to go back to the same comfortable way of life which she's been experiencing since a few days ago.

Her eyes snag onto the hesitant face of her husband and she quells away the unresolved agitation which bubbles underneath.

Her eyes fall onto her son—— the little boy who is looking at her with bright and hopeful eyes—— blinking the large doe cerulean ones matching his father's.

You can do it, Annika.

Tu yeh kar sakti hain, Karthik ke liye.

"Whatever Karthik wishes to do," Annika smiles softly at the little boy who grins. She glances at Shivaay who is looking at her with a strange expression she can't name.
