Annika taps the pulse oximeter against the blanket which covers the lower half of her body.

Shivaay Singh Oberoi sits on the couch he'd occupied earlier, the sleeves of his shirt folded up to his elbows. He'd discarded his blazer—— donned in merely a dark blue waistcoat and pale yellow dress shirt.

Doctor Sharma left about four minutes and five seconds ago—— had Annika been counting?

Absolutely!

Annika clears her throat, "Erm, hi."

He looks at her, a small smile curving up the corners of his lips. "Hello," he whispers, as his eyes soften into a gentle look.

She opens her mouth, before closing it. Wracking her brain on what to say, she nearly slaps herself when the only words which are blurted from are mouth are, "Where's my ring?"

He blinks, before shaking his head with a fond smile. "You want your ring?" He chuckles.

Annika shrugs, "I'm married, aren't I?" She looks at the tan line around her finger. "I have to wear the ring."

"No," Shivaay replies in an instant. Annika looks up at him, with a confused frown. "What I mean," Shivaay exhales slowly, before smiling softly, "You don't have to wear it to appease anyone, l——" he cuts himself off. "Wear it, only if you're comfortable."

Annika hesitates.

"Are you sure?" She asks, slowly. "It wouldn't matter to you?"

"It does matter to me," he smiles. "As does your comfort. Which is why I'm asking you to wear it only if you feel comfortable."

Annika swallows. "I-I'd like some time to figure things out," she looks at with uncertainty, a hesitant frown on her face, as she chews her lower lip.

She looks at him, gouging for any signs of him being annoyed or upset with her decision, but finds none.

She lets out a breath, she didn't know she'd been holding, before shaking her head.

Ask him.

What?—— she frowns.

About the two of you—— her mind would've rolled its eyes, had it had a body of its own.

But why?—— she is puzzled.

Annika, you bloody idiot! You do not remember a thing! You need to start somewhere!
