"Mamma!" Annika startles as she feels herself being shaken by someone. She turns around to face a frowning Karthik who is staring at her grumpily. "Mamma!"
"What is it, baby?" She whispers softly, a tender smile on her face as she looks at her son.
"You haven't told me what you want to do yet," Karthik grumbles. "I've chosen to grab ice cream at the park."
"In this cold?" Annika glances out the window at the thin blanket of snow on the ground.
"That's ironic coming from you," she hears Shivaay muttering under his breath.
She narrows her eyes at him, "Excuse me?"
"You would pester me to give you ice cream when you were pregnant with Karthik," Shivaay arches an eyebrow, a corner of his lips quirking upwards as he looks at his wife.
Annika shakes her head, "Lies."
"Say whatever you want to convince yourself, darling," he smirks.
Annika huffs out a breath, glancing back at their son to see him looking at the two with curious wide eyes.
"Karthik, baby?" She inquires, eyes trained on Shivaay before she glances at Shivaay who is staring at her with a challenging look in his eyes. "How would you like to have some garma garam roti and sabzi at home, tonight?"
"Okay," Karthik shrugs, a huge beaming smile on his face.
"Do you intend on causing food poisoning, my dearest wife?" Despite the clear sarcastic tone, Shivaay's eyes betray the nervousness his voice conceals.
"Only to you, my darling husband," she bats her eyelashes, smiling coyly.
Annika feels a sudden rush of shyness as Shivaay's eyes swirl between a steely grey and cobalt blue, as he gazes at her—— caressing each and every inch of face, neck and collarbone—— before she glances away.
"Mamma?" She blinks, turning around to face Karthik who is frowning at her with a curious look in his cerulean eyes.
"Yeah, baby?" She smiles.
"You're not actually going to poison Papa, are you?" His eyes are wide, as he gazes at her nervously, waiting impatiently for her answer.
Annika glances at Shivaay.
She feels the corners of her lips quirk upwards, as Shivaay bites his lower lip to stop himself from laughing.
She looks at him pointedly, widening her eyes for a fraction of a second.
It's too much!
In the very next second, laughter erupts in the car, as the two of them hunch over, unable to stop themselves.
