It was eight o'clock at night and incredibly dark. She could clearly be seen shivering in terror as thunder roared across the sky. December's dark nights were gloomy and bitterly cold. There was nobody on the street. She stayed despite knowing it was a poor idea to attend her teacher's farewell because Emily is maybe the kindest sixty-year-old lady she has ever met. But in retrospect, there wasn't a bus, and when taxi drivers cancelled on her, she was considering spending the night at the bus stop. She was asking God to send assistance, and then she noticed a car's headlights.
When the windows rolled down, the most unexpected man stood there. Fynn rider. Well , better to spend the night on the bus stop than to go with him.
“ I don't have it in me to fight with you so just get in.”
That's when kate noticed his dishelved state. His eyes had bags and he looked physically sick. It was weird considering he had not even attended the Farwell today. Surprising both of them , kate got in.
“ What happened to you?”
“ I got the flu.”
“ How did you know I was stuck here.”
“ Emily rang me. She told me that you were too stupid to deny a lift and that considering I was the only one who lived near, she asked if i could do something about it.”
Kate was truly grateful to Emily and to Fynn as well.
After being taken aback by what had transpired today, Kate startled the two of them by muttering, "Thank you," as if it were a light whisper and nothing more.
Although the words were said softly their effect and the meaning behind them were both loud.
Fynn smiled.
