At 16, other people were trying to chase and reach their dreams, it was a different story for my parents, at 16, they were trying to build a family. Peter Luhen Manzan was born when our mother was only 16, and our father was 17. It was considered an accident because they were too careless and let lust control them.

They were about to enter college at that time. But they surrendered to their desires and had kuya. Muntik nang itakwil si mama ng mga magulang niya nang malaman nilang nabuntis siya. They stopped going to school for a year, dad stayed with her the whole year because if she's not going to university, he also won't. At first, they thought everything was going fine. They don't worry about a thing, not even money dahil maluwag na maluwag ang pamumuhay nila, they did everything as they planned, my dad... took care of Mom hanggang sa manganak siya.

Walang nakakaalam ng dahilan ng biglaang pagkawala ng dalawa, hindi nila hinayaang lumabas ang balita tungkol sa pagbubuntis kay kuya dahil ang pamilya nila ay kilala sa buong Pangasinan. They don't want to reveal that they had a disgrace in their family. Disgrasya ang tingin nila kay kuya, kahit wala naman siyang kaalam-alam sa kasalanang namana niya sa mga magulang namin. 

They did not regret what they did, for a few years at least, naalagaan nila ng mabuti si kuya. They gave him the care that every parent would give to their child. A year later, they got married. They promised to cherish and take care of each other, but we never knew that those promises would only last for a few years. Sometimes, vows and promises and meant to be broken. 

They were an example of good parents, That's what kuya said...

Normal family. That's what you call it, they cared for the child and pampered him with care. Both of them loved each other... they did.

But how can you explain a love that would go away one day and you'll realize that you're not supposed to be in there anymore? Does that happen? You wake up , the realization hits and your mind will say, "hindi ko na siya mahal." 

They were sailing smoothly not until Dad went back to school and continued his studies. Mom also wanted that too, who wouldn't... Siguro naisip din niya na bumalik na rin since they can hire as many nannies as they want.

"I also want to go back to studying Mond, mama..." Mom requested, Dad only stared at her, trying to find the right words to say. But in the end, he knows to himself that he has to turn his wife's request down. 

"I think you should stay inside the house and let Mond do the job iha, hayaan mo siyang gumawa ng paraan para buhayin kayong mag-ina, mukhang minamaliit mo naman ang kakayanan ng anak kong buhayin kayo..." Lola Teresita was the one who replied. Napangiwi si mama dahil sa narinig mula sa kanyang biyenan. Mom looked at Dad but he looked away, he knew that he couldn't win an argument against his mom. 

Mom never liked that, she does not like the way how her husband couldn't even defend her. That was the time she felt how people tried to invalidate her feelings. Naramdaman niyang minamaliit siya lalo na ng pamilya ng asawa niya.

"Besides, your income is already above average considering that you haven't even earned a degree yet, so it's fine that you stay in your house muna, and take care of Peter." 

My mom never agreed to that, but she also never talked back. 

Ni isang beses hindi naisipang bisitahin si mama ng mga magulang niya, they did not neglect her directly but they never visited her. They made her feel unwanted, she knew that what she did was wrong but that doesn't mean she's a bad person that they should avoid and throw like some kind of trash.
