One Cold Night
19: What to do?

Vera Alette's POV

"Hintayin mo nalang ako dito, or find somewhere that you could spend your time on, I'll be back by 10:30," I mumbled and looked down at my watch, 9 A.M. pa lang.

"I'll wait here," Sagot ni warren habang kinakalikot iyong speaker ng sasakyan, I sighed and opened the door before stepping out, I have a site inspection at his house and this man right here, Warren, decided to tag along! Napakaingay lang naman niya sa sasakyan eh! Panay siya tanong taps kapag sasagot naman tatawanan ka niya, parang gago lang!

Does that guy have no other tasks to do? Wala na siyang ibang ginawa kundi maging peste sa araw ko.

I was about to open the small gate but someone behind me pushed it wide open, I froze when his chest brushed onto my back. I already knew who it was, kilalang-kilala ko ang pabango na iyon.

I turned my gaze behind me and saw Victor looking at me seriously.

"G-good Morning, M-Mr. Santiago," Nauutal kong bati at umiwas ng tingin. Nang lingunin ko ulit siya ay mas malaki na ang distansiya sa amin. He scoffed and looked away.

"Good morning, Ms. Manzan," There was an emphasis when he pronounced my last name formally. His voice sounded so plain... 

"Pumasok ka na."

I can't hear the softness in his usual voice, it sounded flat... and cold. What do I expect? Do I expect him to be friendly still after making distance for some unknown reason?

I stepped in and so he was, I even heard him close the gate as I paved my way towards the main door of the house, bukas naman iyon kaya pumasok na ako.

I flinched when he called me all of a sudden, kakasara lang niya ng pinto, "Ms. Manzan, just call me if you need anything, nasa likod lang ako."

He mumbled, he didn't even wait for my response and walked off, I bit my lower lip and breathed deeply. Ang hirap naman, when will this end? Mas bumibigat lang 'to sa pakiramdam eh.

I tried to bring back my unbothered demeanor and walked around the house, nagkalat ang mga workers at nagtutulungan sa pag-aayos, maayos naman na pero may mas iaayos pa kaysa sa current state na mayroon kami ngayon.

I went on with my inspection. I helped them with the markings and checked if the plan was executed well. Sinabihan ko naman sila tungkol sa mga bagay na kailangan ng minor changes. I wrote it on a blank paper and handed it to the foreman.

"Sige po ma'am, gagawin na po kaagad namin, saka po baka po mas mapaaga pa po na matapos yung construction, malapit na po sa polishing."

"But we better not rush it, foreman, we still have enough time, pwede pa po nating gamitin para ma-secure na maayos talaga, contact me if something happens or something feels off po."
