13: Trouble
Vera Alette's POV
I was sleeping deeply while comfortably snuggling on my pillow when my phone rang... For the fifth time!
I irritatedly grabbed my phone and clicked the green button.
"What now Lisi—"
I was cut off because of a loud voice from the other line. I instantly put my phone away from my ears, but I could still clearly hear her...
"Hoy! Nasaan ka na ba?! Late ka na! Wala kang trabaho ha?!"
"What are you saying? It's week...." Napatigil ako at tumingin sa maliit na kalendaryo sa gilid ng mesa ko.
"End..." and I feel like this is the end of my contract for being this late!
Fuck... Friday pa lang pala.
"Ano? Weekend? Eh lutang ka pala eh! Maligo ka na! Dito ka na kumain mamaya!"
After hearing her lecture... She hang up... And I was left dumbfounded... Ilang segundo ang lumipas saka ako nagsimulang gumalaw. I grabbed my towel and took out my go-to work outfit. Wala nang oras pa para sa kaartehan ko.
Hindi ko ba nai-on yung alarm ko?! Among the things I hate, waking up late and having to hurry up to prepare is the thing that I hated the most! What time did I sleep last night?! Did I sleep that late to keep me in bed?!
"I've been sleeping less or sleeping more these past few days..." I whispered to myself as I massaged my hair with shampoo. I sighed and continued my business.
Late na rin naman ako, bakit hindi ko pa sagarin? I didn't hurry that much, I took my time... But I wasn't moving so slowly either. Katamtaman lang.
Wala naman na akong magagawa eh, I am late and I couldn't bring back time. After doing my usual morning ritual before going to work, I slipped my flats on and went out to walk to work.
Andie:
Asan ka na?
Alette:
Omw.
My stomach was rumbling the whole time I was walking. I checked what time it was... 8:50... Well... I'm already 50 minutes late, tatakbo na ba ako? Should I sprint to arrive there faster?
I shook my head because of the thought, late ka na Alette... Just accept it.
The moment I stepped inside the building, I instantly received a smack from Lisa and Andie, magkabilaan sa balikat ko.
"Gaga ka, anong oras na ha?" Andie asked.
"9:59."
I answered her question just to piss her off.
"Breakfast ko?" Paniningil ko kay Lisa nang harapin ko siya.
"Nasa lounge, mag log-in ka muna, para malaman nilang late ka," she rolled her eyes at me and places her arms over her chest. Napahalakhak naman ako dahil sakanila, mas apektado pa ata sila sa pag-kalate ko kaysa sa akin.
The lounge area was almost empty when I went there with Andie, Lisa had to do something so she left first while Andie would also leave later for her site inspection.
