Several days had passed since Jade returned the baby. Taylor was relieved and grateful that the innocent child was back with her family, but she couldn't help but worry about what would happen next. She had seen a different side of Jade that day, one that was cold and callous, and it had shaken her. She didn't want to believe that her girlfriend was capable of hurting people so willingly, but she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Jade's business dealings than she knew.

Taylor found herself avoiding Jade lately, trying to distance herself from her girlfriend's cold business world. She spent more time with her friends, trying to distract herself from her worries and doubts. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.

One evening, as Taylor was getting ready for bed, there was a knock at her door. She knew immediately who it was, and her heart sank a little as she opened the door to find Jade standing there, looking at her with a mixture of irritation and curiosity.
"Have you been avoiding me, princess?" Jade asks, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Taylor tries to feign ignorance, but it's clear that Jade sees right through her. "What? No, of course not," she says, her voice a little too casual. "I've just been busy with work and stuff."

Jade rolls her eyes, clearly not buying it. "Busy with work, huh?" she says, crossing her arms over her chest. "That's bullshit, and you know it. You've been avoiding me for days, and I wanna know why."

Taylor sighs, knowing that she can't keep dodging the issue for much longer. "Fine," she says, her voice resigned. "I have been avoiding you. I just... I need some space, okay?"

Jade's expression darkens, clearly not happy with the answer. "Space? What do you mean, space? We've been together for months, and now you need space? What's going on, princess?"

Taylor fidgets uncomfortably, not sure how to explain herself. "I don't know," she says, her voice wavering. "I just... I can't stop thinking about what happened with the baby, and how you were so willing to use her as collateral. It scared me, Jade. It made me see you differently, and I don't know if I like what I saw."

Jade rolls her eyes again, clearly not seeing the big deal. "Yeah, I gave it back, so what's the problem? I did what you wanted, I gave the damn baby back. What more do you want from me?"

Taylor looks at her, her expression pained. "That's the point, Jade," she says. "You gave it back, but only because I asked you to. You didn't do it because it was the right thing to do. You did it because I asked you to. That's what scares me, that you don't seem to care about anyone but yourself."

Jade's irritation grows at Taylor's words. "Hey, I care about people, alright?" she says, her voice defensive. "I care about you, don't I? And I care about making money, and taking care of myself. That's not selfish, that's just smart business."

Taylor shakes her head, her expression frustrated. "No, it's not smart, it's heartless. You use people, Jade. You see them as pawns, not as people. And I don't know if I can be with someone who sees the world like that."

Jade's expression hardens, her defenses going up. "So what, you're gonna break up with me just because I don't have a bleeding heart like you do? You're gonna throw away everything we have just because I'm not a soft pushover?"

"I don't want a pushover," Taylor says, her voice firm. "But I don't want a cold-hearted person either. I want someone who values people, who sees everyone as equal. Not someone who uses them as leverage or collateral. That's not how I want to live my life, and it's not how I want to love someone."

Jade's expression softens a bit at Taylor's words, her defenses crumbling slightly. She looks at her girlfriend, a hint of vulnerability in her eyes. "You... you love me?" she asks, her voice softer than usual.
