Jade stands there for a moment, her hand coming up to rest on the door. She can hear Taylor moving around inside, the sound of her footsteps echoing through the thin wood. She knows she's done something irrevocable, something that can't be taken back.

Jade's shoulders slump in defeat. She takes a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. Then she turns and walks towards her bike, her fingers gripping the handlebars tightly. She swings one leg over the bike and starts the engine, the roar of the engine masking the sound of her heart breaking.

She pulls out of the driveway and heads down the street, her hands clenched on the handlebars. Her mind is racing, her thoughts a jumble of Taylor's words and the pain etched on her face.

As she rides, Jade can't help but replay Taylor's words in her mind. "I'm done, Jade. I don't want to see you anymore." The memory of Taylor's voice, cold and firm, hits her like a physical blow. "I deserve someone who will put me first."

She tries to shake the words away, to focus on the road in front of her. But they keep circling through her head, over and over, like a broken record. She knows she messed up, that she chose her business over the woman she loves. And now she's paying the price.

Jade's phone rings, jolting her out of her reverie. She fishes it out of her pocket, seeing one of her team members on the other line. "Yeah?" she answers gruffly.

"Hey boss," the team member says, his voice tense. "We've got a problem. The meetup is in thirty minutes and we're missing one of the crates. It could screw up the whole deal."

Jade's stomach lurches upon hearing the news. This is just what she needed right now. "Damn it," she mutters, her mind immediately switching gears into business mode. "Okay, where are you guys now?"

"We're at the warehouse," the team member replies. "We've gone over the inventory three times, but we're still missing a crate. We don't know what happened to it. The seller is gonna be here soon, and we can't make the deal without the full shipment."

Jade's hands grip the handlebars tightly as she turns a corner. "Alright, I'm on my way," she says, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "I'll be there in ten minutes. Hold things together until then."

She hangs up the phone and increases her speed, her mind already racing with plans to fix this mess. She knows she needs to keep her emotions in check, to stay focused on the task at hand. But try as she might, she can't shake the image of Taylor's hurt and angry face from her mind.

Taylor's apartment - later that night

Taylor sits on her bed, a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. She's been crying, her eyes puffy and red. Her cellphone rings, jolting her out of her thoughts. She glances at the caller ID and sees Selena's name.

She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her voice. "Hey, Sel," she says, her voice raspy from crying.

"Hey Tay," Selena's voice comes through the receiver, laced with concern. "Is everything okay? You sound upset."

Taylor lets out a shaky exhale, her fingers clenching the fabric of the blanket tightly. "No, everything's not okay.....Jade and I... we broke up."

"Oh, Tay, I'm so sorry. What happened?"

"She was supposed to stay over, but she had to leave for some business thing. And... and I got upset, I told her I was tired of being second place to her work."

"And then we got into a huge fight. I told her I couldn't do this anymore, that I wanted someone who would put me first. And I think I messed up, Sel. I think I lost her for good."

Selena is silent for a moment, her mind racing with what to say. "Taylor, listen to me," she says, her voice firm but gentle. "You didn't mess up. You were just speaking your truth. You deserve someone who values you and treats you like a priority."

"But, Sel," Taylor sobs, "I love her so much. And now I feel like I lost her forever. I shouldn't have been so harsh. I shouldn't have pushed her away like that."

Selena's tone is sympathetic but strong. "You were hurt and upset, and you said what you needed to say. That's okay. And you're allowed to feel sad and grieve the relationship. But know that you did nothing wrong. You were just standing up for what you deserve."

Taylor's body shudders as the tears flow, heavy sobs wracking her body. Her face crumples, her expression one of heartbreak and sorrow. "I... I just miss her so much," she whispers through her tears. "And... and what if I never see her again?"

Selena's voice is concerned but surprised. "Taylor, oh my god, what happened? This isn't like you at all. You're usually so strong and confident. But right now, you're falling apart."

"I know, I know," Taylor whimpers, her voice breaking. "But I've never felt this way about anyone before. It's like my heart is shattered into a million pieces, and I don't know if it will ever be put back together again."

Selena's voice takes on a note of annoyance. "Taylor, you didn't act like this when Calvin broke up with you. You were sad and hurt, but you didn't fall apart like this."

"That's the thing," Taylor sobs, her body hunched over with grief. "With Calvin, it was different. It was a breakup, but it wasn't the same as this. I didn't love him the way I love Jade. She's different."

Selena's voice softens as she continues to console her friend. "I know, Tay, but you're not being fair to yourself here. You're letting this heartbreak consume you. You have to remember your worth, remember what you deserve. You're stronger than this."

Taylor's eyes are red and puffy, her body still shaken by sobs. Her gaze falls on a corner of the room where a single sock lies, crumpled and forgotten. She recognizes it as one of Jade's, a reminder of her presence in this room. Seeing it there sends a fresh wave of pain coursing through her, and she breaks down in tears once again.

The sobs that leave Taylor's body now are guttural, almost feral in their intensity. It's as if the pain and grief have built up inside her and are now erupting out in a raw, desperate cry. She doubles over, clutching her chest as the sobs wrack her frame.

Selena's voice comes through the receiver urgently. "Taylor, listen to me. You need to calm down. Take deep breaths, okay? You're hyperventilating."

Taylor tries to control her erratic breathing, taking in ragged gasps of air as Selena's voice grounds her. She nods vehemently, even though Selena can't see her.

Selena speaks again, her voice steady. "Deep breaths, in and out. That's it. Inhale. Exhale. You're doing great, Tay. Just keep breathing."
