Taylor slowly opened her eyes, finding herself lying in bed next to Jade. She shifted slightly, stretching out her stiff muscles. It was early morning, the first light of dawn.
Jade was asleep, her face pressed into the pillow, her hair sprawled out over the sheets. She was sleeping on her stomach, her arms tucked up under the pillow, her back rising and falling with each slow breath.
Taylor carefully shifted closer, moving to lie on her side facing Jade's back. She hesitated for a moment, unsure if she should touch her, before finally resting her head gently on Jade's back.
She closed her eyes, listening to the steady rhythm of Jade's breathing, feeling the rise and fall of her back under her head. A wave of emotion washed over her, a tangle of love, hurt, and confusion.
As Taylor lay there, lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt Jade move underneath her. Slowly, Jade rolled onto her back, enveloping Taylor in her arms. She did this while she was still asleep, her movements automatic and almost instinctual.
Taylor found herself being pulled into Jade's embrace, her back pressed against Jade's chest, her legs tangled with Jade's.
Jade's arm was wrapped around her waist, holding her close, her hand resting on Taylor's back. It was a protective, possessive gesture, as if even in her sleep Jade was unwilling to let her go.
Taylor's heart fluttered in her chest, the unexpected closeness sending a shiver down her spine. She could feel Jade's breath on the back of her neck, warm and steady. She wondered if Jade was subconsciously aware of what she was doing, or if it was purely a reflexive action.
Regardless, Taylor found herself strangely comforted by the gesture. The warm weight of Jade's body against hers, the steady rise and fall of her chest, the gentle pressure of her hand on her back all served to soothe her troubled mind. Despite the confusing feelings swirling inside her, Taylor felt herself relaxing, her body melting into the embrace. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Hours passed, the sun slowly rising in the sky. Taylor found herself drifting in and out of sleep, waking up every now and then to the comfort of Jade's embrace.
Eventually, she felt Jade shifting beneath her, stirring as she began to wake up.
"Mmm," Jade mumbled, her arms tightening around Taylor as she slowly opened her eyes. "Morning."
"Morning," Taylor replied. She looked up at Jade, who was blinking groggily and rubbing a hand over her eyes.
"How long have you been awake?" Jade asked, her voice raspy and rough from sleep.
"Not long," Taylor said, shifting to turn and face her. "I kept waking up and dozing off again."
"Yeah, I did too," Jade said. "I feel like I didn't really sleep though."
She sat up slowly, stretching her arms above her head. Taylor sat up as well, watching her.
"You always look hot when you stretch," Taylor blurted out before she could stop herself.
Jade chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Is that so?" she said, grinning. "You always did have a thing for my arms."
"Shut up," Taylor muttered, trying to sound petulant but failing to suppress a smile.
Jade's playful expression softened, and she looked at Taylor with a serious expression. "We need to talk," she said quietly.
Taylor's heart skipped a beat, her anxiety spiking. "Talk about what?" she asked, her voice betraying her nervousness.
"About us," Jade said, sighing. "About our relationship. I know we have a lot to work through, but I also know that I don't want to lose you again."
She shifted closer, taking one of Taylor's hands in hers. "Are we...back together?"
