The Ruling - Bellamy Blake

29. President Wallace

I'm using my poorly drawn map to get myself through the tunnels. I haven't encountered a single reaper yet, which I'm very grateful for. I hear a noise from the end of the tunnel and turn off my torch, crouching down slightly to not be seen.

I hear the noise coming from the direction I'm going to. I silently step forward knowing I have no other choice. I hold the reaper repellent tightly getting ready to press the button any second now.

I see baskets and lean behind it to peer down the tunnel to see all the reapers. I take a deep breath about to step forward but I hear something fall into the basket. I step back looking up and seeing another body fall in. I look forward feeling my heart sink, and seeing the reapers start to walk towards me.

"Shit." I whisper to myself. I wait for them to move closer before pressing the button. They start to scream and fall away from me. I start to run by them and get to a door. My eyes scan around it quickly as the reapers start to run away from me.

My eyes land on the card reader. Just as I'm about to press Emerson's card to it the door opens and I draw my sword.

It's Bellamy.
"Bell." I mutter running into his arms. Every worry I've had disappears instantly. He's okay.
"Clarke told me you left." He says pulling away to look at me.
"You got through to them?" I ask. He nods.
"She said you had just left."
"How'd you know, I was here?"
"Maya timed it." He says motioning to the girl standing behind him.
"Jasper's Maya?" I ask looking at her, having heard Clarke talk about her. She nods smiling softly.
"Hi." She says softly.

I look back up at Bellamy just glad that he's okay.
"We need to get you someplace safe. I disabled the cameras but it's only so long until the guards realize." Maya says. I nod.
"Come on." Bellamy says grabbing my arm as he starts to walk. I follow them keeping my eyes open the entire time.

On the walk Bellamy tells me everything new that is going on.

"Get me inside. I can help them." I say to both of them. I don't care what I have to do, I will get them out.
"It's too risky, if they notice you, which they will, they'll kill you." Maya says.
"You haven't met me. I don't get killed that easily." I mutter.
"Look. They're going to go in there and choose someone else to take soon. I'll give them a gun." Bellamy says looking at me. I nod. That could work.

"But for now, we have to report back to Arkadia." He says. Maya leads us to a room where we can talk.
"Work Station, do you read me?" Bellamy asks through the radio.
"Is Nova there?" Clarke asks a hint of worry in her voice.
"Yep." I say leaning over to speak.
"Thank god. Have you found the source of the acid fog?"
"No. That's gonna have to wait."
"What? Nothing is more important than that."
"Our friends are. They're taking them from the dorms." I say. I'm a little taken aback that she wouldn't think of our people first.
"Taking them where?" Raven asks.

"I don't know." Bellamy says while I look up at him hoping for an answer. "We tried to follow but they went to a classified level. Maya's trying to find us a way in."
"Anything?" I ask turning to her.
"I think I found a path, but it's gonna be tight. Here's the walkie Raven asked for and the earbuds." She says handing them to us.
"You have to find them."
"That's the plan."
"If you don't, this is all for nothing."
"Good thing we will." I say.

Maya leaves to get me something to wear to make me fit in more and I turn to Bellamy.
"I didn't think you were going to actually follow me." He says.
"I mean every word I say. Besides if I'm not here to protect you, who will?" I say. He smiles before pulling me in for a hug. I pull away slightly to connect our lips.
"I have your back."
"Just like I have yours." I say before Maya comes in.

I change into the clothes and we follow her out.

Bellamy walks into the vent first and then I follow. We're having Raven and Clarke tell us which ways to go. But every turn we take has about 4 different ways to go afterwards.
"Any chance you could be more specific?" I ask. We start to hear drilling. "Never mind."

Bellamy turns towards it. I follow until we get to a vent and we both peer through watching a doctor drill into someone's leg, but although their face is covered I know they're one of us.
"Bone marrow extraction." I hear Clarke say. My heart sinks. They were one of us. I make a promise to myself that I will avenge them.

She brings it over to Emerson giving it to him. A man is asking him questions. Cage says they're going to use a missile on Tondc.

I motion for Bellamy to go and we both climb out.
"Please tell me you heard all that?" I ask.
"We did."
"We have to warn them."

Clarke comes to the decision to leave and warn them herself.
"Octavia was there when I left. Is she back?" Bellamy asks. Last I saw her was outside the gate. There's no reason she'd go back unless Indra does.
"She's here."
"Good."
"Be safe, Clarke." I say softly.

We get back to Maya and she tells us they're choosing another kid.
"Give it to Jasper." I say to Bellamy as I watch him put the gun in his belt. He nods before walking out. I trust him the most with a gun.

"You're brave." Maya says turning to me.
"You have to be to survive." I tell her. She smiles softly.
"I'm scared." She whispers.
"Everyone is. And if they say they're not, they're lying. Bravery has nothing to do on whether you're afraid but everything on what you do with it. Slay your demons." I say grabbing her hand softly.

After a few minutes, Bellamy walks in.
"He has it. He said to talk to Dante."
"Who's Dante?" I ask confused.
"He was our president and was on your side. His son took his place." Maya says.
"Okay. Then let me do the talking." I say tired of sitting around doing nothing. Maya nods to me.
"He's supposed to eat soon. You're gonna have to really cover up. The cameras are always watching." I nod.

Once it's time to feed him, I walk to where Maya told me to go and grab his tray before using Emerson's ID to walk in. I see an old man staring at a painting.
"Your evening meal, President Wallace." I say making sure to keep my back turned to the camera. He eyes me carefully before walking over to turn the music up.

I go to set his plates down.
"Who are you?" He asks pushing his eyebrows together.
"My name is Nova Gales. I'm one of the 100, you guys didn't catch. We need your help. Your son is killing my friends." I answer honestly. If he's going to help he needs to know the truth.
"I'm a prisoner, same as them."
"A prisoner who knows every inch of this mountain. Every security measure." I say walking over to the other table to pick up old plates.

He walks over to me.
"Who's helping you?"
"That's not important."
"After Clarke escaped, I had all exits fortified and put under extra surveillance. My son has no doubt changed all access and entrance codes by now. Your friends will never even make it off of level 5."
"I won't let them die here."
"I'm sorry. I can't help them escape." He says. I sigh dropping the rag onto the tray.

"Then sir, my friends will come. And they won't hesitate to kill anyone who steps in their way." I say before turning around looking down as I start to walk to the door.
"I can help buy you some time." He says and I turn to look at him.
"Continue."

He gives me coordinates and I run to find Bellamy and tell him. We make our way through following them.
"Did they evacuate Tondc?" Bellamy asks Raven as I start climbing up the ladder.
"I don't know yet. But it's Clarke. She'll get it done. Just concentrate on squeezing your ass through the vents. Stop worrying about your sister."

I stop climbing as my heart sinks. They lied about Octavia being there.
"Shes in Tondc?" I ask.
"Raven." Bellamy speaks up as she doesn't answer me.
"She's gonna be okay. Clarke fired out of here. She's gonna get there on time."
"How could you keep this from me."
"She was trying to protect you." Raven says and I scoff. Lying isn't the way to protect someone. "Look you have a job to do. Just focus."

I glance down at Bellamy who's completely frozen.
"Come on, Bell. We have to get this done." I say softly. He nods and I continue climbing.
