A few minutes later a shadow cast above me. I looked up. Surprise, surprise...

"Go away!" I said turning my head away from him. I looked a mess and I didn't need to give Austin another reason to tease me.

"Look, I'm sorry. I crossed a line." He shrugged. I looked up at him putting his hands in his jeans pockets nervously.

"Are you being serious?" I asked him, unsure if he's just messing with me.

He looked down at me, his messy blonde mop covered his eyes, which he soon swept away. "Yeah, I-I shouldn't have pushed it." He replied actually looking sorry. He sat beside me against the wall.

Alright Ally, now or never. "One question, why were you mean to me but no one else? What did I do?" I asked, wondering if carrying on the conversation was a good idea or if I should've just left it there. He shrugged.

"Firstly, that was two questions," he smiled and then carried on, "and secondly, because when I saw you in home-room today and attempted to flirt with you, you just looked away, you brushed me off. You're different" He said looking sideways.

I frowned. "Good different or bad different?" I asked him.

He smiled at me and chuckled a little. "Good different. It's just that, all my life, I've had girls liking me and wanting to go out with me but you didn't think that. You reacted differently to the other girls." He admitted.

I looked up at the sky. It was such a beautiful shade of blue. "Why would you want to flirt with me though? I'm nothing compared to the girls in this school, let's face it. I'm a nerd. And look at you-" Okay Ally shut up before you say something embarrassing.

Austin chuckled softly. "Being a nerd isn't a bad thing, it just means you're smart. And since you're so smart it really surprises me that you don't see how how great you actually are."

Did he just compliment me? And he was being genuine about it? I felt a blush rise up to my cheeks, burning them as it did so. I looked at the floor and laughed. "That is so not true. And I'm still not getting why you picked on me." I finally plucked up the courage to look at him but he stared at his feet in front of him.

"I treated you different, because I didn't know how to act around you."

"What do you mean?"

"When I flirted with you and you turned me down, it really surprised me." He smiled at me. "I've never met a girl who wasn't into me." And there's the cockiness of him. "I guess I got confused and handled it the wrong way." He flicked his hair to side to get it out of his eyes.

I laughed. "So let me get this right, if I don't act like a 'normal' girl, I get bullied for it?" I asked. I had to ruin a nice moment didn't I? His head still against the wall but he turned it to me. I never noticed his eyes were hazel, I always thought they were blue, you know, blonde hair-blue eyes.

"No, I'm saying that..." He looked at his feet then closed his eyes. "I like you." My jaw dropped. What the frack? I haven't even known him a day! What am I going to do? He opened his eyes and raised his eyebrows at the facial expression I was making towards his remark. "No, not like that! I like you because your different and I'd love to be your friend not go out with you." He said, laughing.

I sighed in relief. "Good because I don't date blonde boys." I said keeping a straight face. He laughed at me.

"Seriously?"

I laughed too this time. "No, I don't judge on looks, but seriously, I don't date people who make fun of me. But I'd really like to be friends." I smiled which he returned with a beam of his own.

"Awesome. We should be getting back now." He suggested. I looked at my phone "We only have 20 minutes left." I said standing up. Was I really talking to him for that long? He stood up too. "So tell me about yourself?" He asked as we started walking to class.

"What do you want to know?" I replied smiling.

When we got back, everyone was huddled around the computer. Austin and I both walked towards them, I looked over Jenny's shoulder and saw they were watching something on Youtube.

Jenny turned around "Ally! You are so talented!"

What the?

I looked at the screen and realised that they were watching my 5th Grade music contest. I played the piano and sung Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. "I haven't seen that in years!" I exclaimed happily.

Austin looked at me in amazement. "Ally, this is amazing!"

I smiled at him. "Thanks!" He gave me a high 5. I had explained to him earlier about my stage fright. And he understood it...kinda.

Miss Andrews looked at me after the video had finished. "Ally! That was exceptional! Why don't you show us how much you've grown as a performer?" She asked, pointing to the piano again. I looked at Austin and froze. A pained look masked my face.

"I don't think that's a good idea...because it's almost lunch!" Austin said to cover for me. Miss Andrews agreed and left the subject. Austin walked over to me, I tried moving but it felt like my feet and my mind were disconnected and I started to see blurriness. "Ally?" He asked shaking my shoulder.

I blinked and woke up from the mental coma I was previously in. "What?" I asked forgetting where I was for a second.

"She's gone, I got you off the hook...you're welcome." He said smiling. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"My gosh, thank you so much Austin!" I said gratefully. I hugged him and he hugged me back. This lasted for a few seconds then we both broke away awkwardly. BRRIIINNNGGG!

"Let's just...let's go to lunch!" He asked smiling. I nodded then we left for the field.

Ooo is there a budding romance sparking up between these two?
