Dorne.
Astoria watched from her seat as her daughter played with young Jaehaerys, the two laughing as they mashed their toy horses together. Jaehaera sat at the feet of her nursemaid, listening as she read a story.
Helaena approached her lover with a small smile on her lips, placing a hand on the back of her chair. "I thought you had a council meeting, I didn't expect you until later." Helaena says, gently tracing a finger on the wood of the chair, her violet eyes staring at the back of Astoria's head.
The Queen of Dorne looked up and met Helaena's gaze. "I ended it early....Helaena..." Astoria trails off, her eyes peering back at the children. Helaena's smile falls, she knew this was coming, especially after hearing news about her father's death and the usurpation of Rhaenyra's throne. "Don't make me go back." Helaena whispers, her fingers tightening on the chair, forcing them to whiten significantly. Astoria stands, taking Helaena's hands in hers, their eyes meeting, fire on fire.
"Understand this, my love, I would never risk your life or your children's. I want you here. Understand that. But as Queen, I must consider my people. If I keep you here, the tides of war will also shift towards us, not only risking my country but yourself as well. They will see us as the enemy if we hold the princess hostage....you will be safer there." Astoria promises
Helaena shakes her head, tears pooling in her eyes. "I don't care. I'm happy here." Helaena says, her fingers tightening around Astoria's. Astoria lets out a shuttering breath, bringing her hand up and gently cupping her lover's cheek. "I love you, so much. And if I weren't the Queen and you the princess...I would take us to the farthest corner of the world." Astoria says as tears leak down her tan cheeks. Helaena lets out a soft sob, leaning into Astoria's hold.
....
Kingslanding.
Knights worked along the wall of the castle, standing watch. Ser Arryk walked towards the scorpion spear, apprehending any of his men who weren't standing tall. That is until a shout is overheard, "Dragon!"
Erryk rushed forward, peering up at the sky, trying to see where the dragon was coming from.
"Arm the scorpion!" A guard yells over the yells of his fellow men.
"Approaching from the southeast!"
The sharp creak of the scorpion penetrated the air as the men pushed it around, aiming for the dragon that approached. "Get around!"
"Scorpion ready!"
Arryk raises an armored arm. "Halt!" Arryk commands, watching as the dragon approaches.
"Stand down, it's Dreamfyre! The Queen's dragon!"
Arryk's eyes widen and he whips his head to one of the squire's. "Tell the King! The Queen has returned from Dorne!" Arryk orders
The squire immediately rushes down the wall's path and towards the stairs.
....
Alicent rushes to her daughter's chambers, holding her dress in her hands, her hair moving wildly behind her.
The doors are pushed open as Alicent enters the room. Her wide eyes peered into the room.
Helaena looks up as she sets Jaehaera on her bed. "You're back!" Alicent breathes, a weight lifted from her chest as she quickly approaches her only daughter. The dowager Queen attempted to hug Helaena but the Queen avoided her arms, pushing them away. Alicent didn't allow it to deter her, used to her eccentricities, especially her aversion to touch. "I feared they would've ignored the request, especially with Dorne having Aenys as their King." Alicent says
"King consort." Helaena whispers under her breath, gently sweeping a piece of Jaehaera's hair to the side. "Of course, they would answer the request, the Queen doesn't want any part of Westero's war. Childish she says." Helaena states, finally meeting her mother's gaze.
Alicent sighs, straightening. Her daughter was angry, it was new. Helaena was not emotional, always calm and reserved.
Realizing she wasn't going to get much from her daughter, "I missed you, sincerely...but I shall allow you and the children to settle down. I'll keep Aegon away so you may have some peace before you are bombarded with questions. He was restless." Alicent says, formerly excusing herself.
Helaena doesn't say anything, peering down at the blanket in her hands, longing for the former life she had.
....
Peace didn't last long, took only an hour before she was once again disturbed.
Helaena was seated on the floor of her children's chambers, cushioned by blankets and pillows. In her hands was a needle and thread as she embroidered a new blanket for Jaehaerys.
Aegon storms into his children's chambers, barely acknowledging his wife as he approaches his daughter, assuming at first it is his son. Aegon examines his daughter's features, realizing it isn't Jaehaerys.
Aegon straightens.
"Where is Jaehaerys?" Aegon asks, peering over at the maids.
Helaena doesn't peer up from her stitching, used to his disinterest. She barely arrived and yet he didn't greet her. It came as no surprise. It also didn't surprise her when he barely acknowledged his only daughter.
"Attending his lessons." Helaena mumbles
Aegon finally acknowledges his wife, making a face. "Already?" Aegon asks
Helaena rolls her eyes. Sighing. "And those are where?" Aegon asks
Helaena grits her teeth. "What do you need of him?" Helaena asks
"Taking him to the small council. He'll be king one day. He must begin his instruction." Aegon says, staring at the side of Helaena's head.
With an air of annoyance and anger. "What if he does not want to be king?" Helaena asks
Aegon bends forward, thoroughly annoyed. "Where is he?" Aegon whispers
Helaena finally looks up and she meets Aegons gaze. "The library. You must not interrupt his custom." Helaena says as he straightens up, with a mumble under his breath, he nods. The false king steps around her and is on his way to pick up his son.
With a deep inhale, she turns to her husband as he barely approaches the double doors. "I'm afraid." Helaena calls out, stopping Aegon in his tracks, and forcing him to turn around. Aegon peers over at the maids once again before answering his wife, shaking his head. "Don't be. They'd be fools to come with Vhagar protecting the city." Aegon says
Helaena shakes her head. "Not the dragons." Helaena states, her eyes peering deeply into Aegon's. "The rats." Helaena says
Aegon looks over the floors as if looking for the rats themselves. Aegon meets the maid's gaze, chuckling. "The queen is an enduring mystery... is she not?" Aegon asks
Helaena watches her husband leave, her fingers whitening.

A/N
This book is going to be slow on updates because I don't want to rush and make a mistake on the story line, especially with something always coming up.
So far, I just finished episode 4, which....to say the least, I'm crying. Ugh!!
Anyways, I won't be spoiling it just yet, it'd be brought up in later chapters, in which you guys probably would've watched it by then.
