Mysaria and Rhaenys sat at Aenys bedside, both looking down at the pale prince, whose lips were chapped and almost pale blue.

Rhaenys stayed silent and gave Aenys mother privacy as she clutched her son's hand in hers, whispering her sorrows. "Lady Mysaria." Rhaenyra calls from the entrance of the prince's chambers. Mysaria sniffs. "I'm no lady, your grace." Mysaria says, her voice hoarse and filled with guilt and pain.

"Right...uh Rhaenys, if you may" Rhaenyra asks, offering her an imploring look as she slowly approached. Rhaenys sighs as she stands, offering a short nod before looking down at Aenys one last time before leaving.

Rhaenyra clears her throat, standing at the grieving mother's side. "I was told you turned back from your ship to bring warning." Rhaenyra says softly.

Mysaria looked up, her eyes red as she stared into the Queen's eyes. "A warning that caused my son to lie in this very bed." She breathes "You blame yourself? You blame me? Because I would never have wanted this, I promise you that. I see Aenys as my son." Rhaenyra says

Mysaria shakes her head. "Please forgive me for my words, but no king or queen can amount or matter for that fact when my son is here, suffering. I do not blame you, your grace, for the fault was mine alone. I went to him first. I could've searched for anyone else, but I had faith that my son was formidable and that only he could shoulder this battle. I trust no one else. I caused this." Mysaria says

Rhaenyra hesitates but she carefully places a hand on the woman's shoulder. "I do not fault you for words, believe me, I understand your guilt. If I hadn't sent my boy to Stormsend, then he would be alive." Rhaenyra says

Mysaria looks up. Her words brought her some comfort. "You are kind, I can see why my son loves you and your kin." Mysaria says, her hand curling tighter around her sons. Rhaenyra sighs softly, looking towards Aenys.

"You and your son saved my life. Allow me to reward you. I know it cannot undo what is done, but it's the least I can do, for him" Rhaenyra says, nodding to their boy. Mysaria inhales deeply.

....

Later that morning, Aenys wakes with a sharp gasp. His dark eyes peer up at the ceiling before sitting up sharply, only to shout in pain.

Suddenly arms settle on his shoulders, "Brother, brother, calm yourself." A voice breathes softly in his ear. Aenys pants harshly but he looks over to his sister. Rhaena stares at him with wide eyes. "Fuck, what happened." Aenys breathes, his voice raw and underused.

Rhaena sighs, bringing him a cup of water. "First drink, you've lost quite a lot of blood." Rhaena says, watching as he drank the whole cup dry. She then goes on to retell the events, watching as his face fills with shock and grief.

"He took his own life." Aenys breathes, the cup slacking in his hands. "He couldn't handle knowing he took his own brother's life. In many ways, I can understand, but it's fucking horrible." Rhaena says

"The funeral?" Aenys asks "Was held first light. I am so sorry brother." Rhaena says

"Is there more?" Aenys asks

Rhaena sighs, looking down at her hands. "I am being sent away, along with Joffrey, Aegon, and Viserys. We are heading first to the Eyrie and possibly Pentos....can you believe it...I've become useless, nothing more than a bloody nursemaid." Rhaena scoffs with anger and pain. Aenys sighs softly, taking her hand in his.

....

Days later.

While anchored by his brother, Aenys and Jace walk with the party as they ready to see off Rhaena and the princes, watching as a group of dragon keepers carry a cage with the younger prince's dragons.

"You weigh a ton brother, seems complicity and bedrest have fattened you up." Jace teases, earning a disgruntled grunt from his brother. "Watch it brother." Aenys warns, jamming his elbow into his side, earning a pained grunt from Jace, who bends forward in pain. Aenys separates from him and limps to the hugging forms of his sisters.

Rhaena and Baela pull apart and face their brother. Aenys straightens, despite his back screaming at him. "Wow, two days and already you are walking around, your mother and maester must hate you." Rhaena teases, earning a laugh from her sister.

Aenys smiles at her fondly. "They do, but they understood I must see my sister off." Aenys says, his words sobered Rhaena, who clears her throat. "Right...any words of wisdom?" Rhaena asks

"While I don't pity you, you are doing a great service. If anything happened to Rhaenyra or Jace...Joffery and those boys are next in line. It is now your duty to protect them. My word of advice, train yourself, do not think that just because you are away from the fire it deems you safe. It's unfortunate but true, those boys are targeted, as any royal child is." Aenys says

Rhaena inhaled deeply at the harsh truth, and she looked towards Rhaenyra who was saying her goodbyes, pressing lasting kisses on each of her children's heads, grief filling her features.
