The sounds of water rushed through Aenys' muffled ears, as he stood on the island. His dark eyes peered out at the small pieces of land where he had made love to Aemond all those nights before. His face was void of emotion. It's been barely a night since he was told the news of Rhaenys death.

The echoes of his screams radiated through the castle walls, no one, not his mother nor Queen could calm him as he destroyed almost every piece of furniture he had. After his long rampage, he took off on Terraxes, and despite his wounds, he left Dragonstone.

He didn't expect Aemond to appear, nor did he want him to. He knew it could only end with bloodshed.

....

Aemond watched as the maester treated his burned and dying brother, keeping his face stoic as all the pieces fell into place. He knew killing Rhaenys would lose him his lover, hopefully temporarily. If he couldn't have Aenys and the throne, well he pities anyone who got in his way.

There was no remorseful bone in his body as he stared down at his brother's burnt and mangled body. It was a means to an end. It also helped that he got some revenge against his greatest tormenter and greatest rival.

With the crown, it brought him one step closer to getting him everything he wanted. And once he wins this war, he'll take Aenys as a spoil of it.

....

Aemond flew towards the island where he last met Aenys, hoping to see him, even if it cost him his life. He needed to speak with him. Before he truly brought hell to Dragonstone, he needed to get Aenys to understand and turn to his side. But any hope he had, quickly vanished when his violet eye landed on ruby flames.

The island's trees burned with a raging fury, collapsing against the darkened soil. His heart leaped in his throat. Vhagar brought him closer, unbothered by the heart. She with a rough grunt, tired by the small flight.

Her rough and battle-hardened scales rested and extinguished the flames under her belly.

Aemond gripped the rough rope with whitened knuckles, peering out with wide eyes. Suddenly a dragon's whistle penetrated the air and Terraxes flew overhead, their large wings shadowing the island, blocking the moon and leaving only the flames to provide light.

"Vhagar jikagon!" Aemond orders, grasping tighter at the reigns. The dragon grumbles, ignoring his order to flee, and settles further in the sand, still healing from her wounds. Regret began to fester in his chest as the dragon neared, its large crimson wings a sinister omen. But instead of descending on him, Terraxes lands across from them. The two-headed dragon growled menacingly as they lowered their heads to reveal their rider.

Aenys sat tall astride his dragon, his dark eyes peering straight into Aemonds. "Aenys, what have you done?" Aemond asks, his words carried by wind. The pale prince shifted on Vhagar's back, fear filling his features, despite his struggle to keep his emotions at bay. He knew as soon as he saw the island, he was screwed. No amount of pretty words would win him his loves favor.
