Aemond half listened as the council argued over what is to be done of the gullet, his head pressed back into the wood of his chair as his fingers idly played with the kings marker.

The roars of the ocean filled his head.

"So? What does the Regent suggest?" Jasper asks, bringing everyone's attention to Aemond. The prince regent raised his head and peered down at the council, his mother's seat vacant after being dismissed by the new ruler.

"Mmmmh, I agree, there is something to be done about this inconvience." Aemond muses half heartedly. "The blockade is more than an inconvenience, it's a major threat to your people's welfare, you must send your dragon and destroys Lord Corlys ships." Larys argues

Aemonds eye snap towards Larys, glaring. "Careful with how you speak. Aegon may have found your tongue amusing but I don't." Aemond threatens

Larys nods sharply, sitting back. The other lords avoid Aemond's gaze, noticing the change in the princes demeanour. Something was different, he was more deranged.

....

Aemond stood in front of the iron throne. The shadows of the room covered half his face. "Was it worth the price?" A wispy voice asked.

Aemond turned and he met his sister's gaze.

"Jaehaerys, Aegon....Aenys." She breathes

Aemond straightens, no one knew he killed Aenys, he told no one, unable to utter the words, unable to accept that he was gone.

Helaena stared mournfully. "Was it worth it?" Helaena asks, slowly approaching, her hair fluttering behind her. Aemond feels tears prickle at his eye, but he doesn't let them fall as he stared impassively. "A sapphire is worth millions compared to flesh. Beware the dragons greed." Helaena says, gently pressing her hand on her brother's scarred cheek.

....

Lucerys fought with rage, his sword swinging through the air as he pictured cutting his uncles head. Wishing to hear steel meet flesh. Everything in him singed with fury.

Jace watched his brother, unable to join him. It felt unreal, seeing his brother once again, alive and breathing, even if it meant the cost of another.

He looked up when he felt a presence at his side. Astoria approached, looking regal and every bit a Queen. "Grab your brother, I need you both in the crypt." She orders

Before he can ask why, she walks away.

Jace watched her leave, his heart tightening in his chest. He wasn't ready to see his brother's corpse. Jace turns to call for his brother, only to find him already watching him.

....

The two Velaryons walked side by side, listening to the whispers, and trying to make out the words.
