Aenys watched as his sister led the small council, standing at the foot of the painted table, her hands planted on the stone. At her side stood her grandmother Rhaenys and across from her was her brother and her betrothal, both watching her with proud looks. "Ser Criston Cole's host has taken to exploiting the tree cover to conceal its movements. He now only travels by night to confound our dragons." Baela states
Bartimos watches the princess carefully, as did the rest of the council. "And what is Cole's heading?" Bartimos asks
Baela straightens. "It is difficult to say, but there were signs of an army moving northwest, I believe." Baela says
The men of the council chuckle, almost mockingly. Jace stiffens as does Aenys, displeased with the disrespect.
Gormon laughs under his breath. "She believes." He whispers
Alfred raises his head, watching as Baela walks around the table and stands beside Jace and Aenys. "You should've burned them when you had the chance." Alfred says
"Perhaps you can, Ser Alfred, when you next sight them on your dragon." Baela says with a small sneer. Jace and Aenys chuckle. Aenys offers his sister a small nudge, proud.
Jace grins over at Alfred, almost mockingly. "The only reason we know any of this is because of Baela's efforts." Jace says
"What do we know, my prince? If you ask me, it is little and less." Bartimos says honestly. Rhaenys slowly approaches the table, her arms crossed over her chest. "We know that Cole possesses a host that is growing in strength and that it is a problem." Rhaenys says
Gormon clears his throat, briefly acknowledging Aenys before speaking. "Can Daemon hope to meet it with his own in time? And if I know the Riverlands, he has more disentangling ahead of him than the end of a Lyseni orgy." Gormon says with a mocking grin. The men of the council stifle a chuckle.
"Have you heard word from your father?" Bartimos asks, staring directly at Aenys, but it was his sister who answered. "No." Baela says, knowing the lords are close to asking her very much injured brother to battle.
"Ravens were sent to Harrenhal seeking news of Daemon's progress with the Riverlords. None have, as yet, returned." Maester Gerardys states
Alfred speaks, also looking at Aenys, a glint in his eyes as he speaks. "Just so. An enemy host, growing in constitution, marches somewhere in the vastness of the Crownlands. We could, perhaps, act if only we had a host of our own. Or someone here to lead us." Alfred says, nodding pointedly at Aenys, very much the second rogue coming, especially with that dragon of his.
"Mind your tongue, Ser Alfred." Aenys says with a harsh glare, he was not about usurpe his stepmother's throne.
"Does it speak falsely, my prince? This council is rudderless." Alfred sneers
