Y/N woke up with a knot in her stomach. The nervous energy coursing through her veins made it hard to focus on anything but the events of the previous night. She couldn't stop thinking about Shuji and the moment they shared. Since he had walked her home, they hadn't talked, leaving her in a state of anticipation and uncertainty. However, today was the first day of school, and she was excited to see him again.
Determined to start the day right, she hopped into the shower, letting the warm water wash away some of her anxiety. Afterward, she took her time doing her makeup, ensuring she looked her best. She rummaged through her closet and finally settled on an outfit that made her feel confident and ready to face the day.
Descending the stairs, she noticed the house was unusually quiet. Her mom was nowhere to be found again. With a sigh, she grabbed a quick breakfast and headed out the door, her thoughts racing as she walked to school.
As she approached the large doors of the school, the familiar buzz of whispers reached her ears. It was nothing new, and she had grown accustomed to it, so she brushed it off without a second thought. Her focus was on finding her homeroom. As she navigated through the crowded hallways, she suddenly collided with someone.
"Damn pretty lady, watch where you're going," a familiar voice drawled.
Looking up, she saw Shuji's smirking face. "Good morning to you too Shuji," she replied with a grin.
"Heyy y/n" he responded, his smirk turning into a smile. "You need help with that?" he asked, pointing to the timetable in her hand.
"Yes, please," she said, relieved and smiling back at him.
"Nice, we're in the same homeroom and have five lessons together," he said, his grin widening with excitement.
Together, they walked to class, the earlier tension melting away with each step. Later in the day, Shuji showed Y/N around, introducing her to his friends and their hangout spot, "the park," which was actually just an old boat behind the school. Despite its rundown appearance, it held a certain charm. She and Shuji sat down in the boat, Y/N leaning on Shuji's shoulder. Then Evan and Andy came with some other guys.
"Ooh, are we interrupting your comfy moment," said Evan, wiggling his brows.
"Yeah, we can leave you two alone, you know," said Andy, smirking, while the rest just laughed.
You chuckled a bit as you watched Shuji say, "Oh fuck off, you wish it was you," and then looked at Andy and Evan. "You didn't have to get personal," said Evan. "Hm," is the only thing you hear from Shuji. "Anyone wanna smoke?" you asked, trying to lighten the mood. Soon enough, everyone is smoking, and you and Shuji are passing the blunt to each other. Shuji proceeds to put his arm around you as you smile up at him, now leaning onto his body. You can see Andy and Evan just giggle, and Y/N finds herself feeling more at ease in their company.
The day turned out better than she had anticipated. Surrounded by new friends and with Shuji by her side, Y/N felt ready to take on whatever challenges the school year might bring.
