The Proposal

It had been an ordinary autumn evening—or at least, that's what Shuji wanted me to think. The golden hour sun bathed the park in warm hues as we strolled along the familiar path, leaves crunching under our feet. Shuji carried his guitar case, as he often did when we hung out after one of his band practices, and I thought nothing of it. Music was always part of our story, so it wasn't unusual for him to bring it along wherever we went.

"I was thinking we could stop by the overlook," he suggested casually, pointing to the hill that had a perfect view of the city skyline. "You know, for old times' sake."

I smiled, nodding. That overlook had been the site of countless memories—picnics, stargazing sessions, late-night talks about our dreams. It was our spot, our little sanctuary away from the noise of the world.

When we reached the top, the view took my breath away, as it always did. The city below sparkled in the twilight, and the first stars began to twinkle in the darkening sky. A blanket had already been spread out on the grass, and a small lantern flickered nearby. That was when I started to suspect something was different.

"Shuji," I said, raising an eyebrow. "What's all this?"

He grinned, setting his guitar case down next to the blanket. "Just thought I'd make it special. Sit with me?"

I did, my curiosity growing as he opened the guitar case—not to reveal his guitar, but a small wooden box. He set it aside with great care, then turned to me with an expression I couldn't quite read.

"I wrote something for you," he said softly, pulling out his guitar. "I've been working on it for a while."

The first chords filled the air, sweet and familiar, and I realized he was playing our song—the one he had written for me years ago when we were still just kids dreaming about the future. But as he sang, I noticed the lyrics were different. They weren't about the past anymore; they were about the future, about promises and forever.

When the song ended, he set the guitar down and reached for the wooden box. My heart raced as he opened it to reveal a delicate silver ring, the band adorned with tiny stars, just like the charm on the bracelet he'd given me so many years ago.

"Y/N," he began, his voice steady but his eyes filled with emotion. "I've loved you for as long as I can remember. You're my best friend, my partner, my everything. I want to spend the rest of my life with you—laughing, dreaming, facing whatever comes our way. Will you marry me?"

For a moment, all I could do was stare at him, my heart full to bursting. Then I nodded, tears streaming down my face. "Yes, Shuji. A million times yes."

The Wedding Day

The morning of our wedding dawned with a soft golden light streaming through the windows of my childhood home. The faint hum of activity filled the air as family and friends bustled around, helping with last-minute preparations. The scent of fresh flowers—roses, lilies, and Shuji's favorite, daisies—blended with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee from the kitchen.

I sat by the window in my room, staring out at the garden where we'd decided to hold the ceremony. It was the perfect setting—lush green grass, twinkling string lights draped across the trees, and an arch decorated with cascading flowers in shades of blush and white. The sunlight filtering through the leaves created a magical atmosphere as if the day itself knew how special it was.

"Deep breaths, Y/N," Kira said, appearing behind me with a knowing smile. She'd been my best friend for so long that she could read my emotions without me saying a word. "Nervous?"

"A little," I admitted, smoothing the fabric of my wedding dress. "But mostly excited."

"Good," she said, squeezing my shoulders. "Because today isn't just any day. It's the day you get to marry your person."
