MINGI
mingi sat on a muddy hill staring down at the river.
the moisture from the grass and mud seeped into his jeans, but he could hardly care at this point.
how could everything come to this? everything in his life felt like it was honestly just falling apart.
he looked back down at his phone, yunho had sent him a message about three hours ago asking to meet up.
as ecstatic as his heart was, he couldn't help but wonder why he'd ask. after all, yunho had been avoiding mingi all week, there was no reason for yunho to suddenly want to see him now.
but, despite the pit of fear in his stomach, he sent a simple "ok" and turned his phone off.
mingi laid back with a sigh. he'd have to go back and shower soon.
but honestly, even showering seemed so draining now. mingi was falling down an endless pit and it felt like he would never get out.
"three more months.." he muttered to himself as he sat up, then walked back to hongjoongs apartment.
"mingi, where'd you go?" hongjoong was in the kitchen making something, or atleast trying to by the smell.
"joong-ah, you're just going to make it worse, go watch tv or something." seonghwa clicked his tongue.
"hey hwa." mingi said, toeing off his worn out adidas.
"hey mingi, woo and san are gonna come over for movies." seonghwa said.
"actually, i have to go somewhere. can you give me a ride?" mingi asked.
hongjoong looked over from his spot on the counter, "you're going somewhere?"
mingi nodded.
"yunho asked to meet up."
seonghwa frowned. "really? did he say why?"
mingi shook his head.
"hopefully you'll finally talk things out. now go shower and get the mud off your butt." hongjoong said.

mingi walked into the restaurant and one of the waiters showed him to where yunho was sitting in a small booth.
"hey." mingi said.
yunho looked up from his phone.
"oh, hey." he put his phone face down.
mingi sat down across from him and looked around before finally turning his attention to yunho, who was staring at him with a look that mingi couldn't quite read. it surprised him since he normally didnt have trouble reading yunhos expressions.
"so what's up?" mingi said, breaking the silence that lingered between the two.
"we should probably talk about what happened." yunho started.
mingi nodded, he knew it was coming but that didnt mean he wasnt dreading it.
yunho sighed and sat back.
"mingi, do you have feelings for me?"
mingi paused, why was he asking?
he knew that he'd have to tell yunho one way or another so he figured there was no point in stalling anymore.
"yeah." mingi answered after a moment.
he watched yunhos face, it looked as if he was contemplating something, mingi couldn't tell.
"does that bother you?" he asked. mingi knew his feelings for yunho would complicate their friendship if the boy had ever found out. hell, he knew it since he first started crushing on yunho. he honestly wanted to take everything back now, yunhos silence was deafening.
"it...mingi i think maybe we should take a break from each other for a bit." yunho said.
mingis whole world dropped, "what?"
yunho shook his head, "I- i just think things have been too...yknow? and giselle she-"
mingi couldn't believe what was going on. it felt like everything was just a daze right now. was he actually hearing yunho right?
"giselle? yunho you told me that you'd always choose me over her, we've known each other for so long. you- i heard you tell me. what did i do? why-"
"im sorry mingi." yunho stood, "dont contact me for a bit. you can stay and eat, its on my tab."
and with that, the last bit of mingis life walked away.
mingi couldn't believe it, he wanted to scream and beg yunho to stay. but what good would that do him? giselle had yunho wrapped around her little finger.
maybe this was for the best, yunho was going on to do bigger things. better things. he'd go to college and then he'd marry giselle and they'd have a little family.
mingi stared down at the table, everything hurt. he just wanted yunho.
"sir, are you okay? can i get you anything?" the waiter, who had probably watched the whole encounter judging by her tone, asked softly.
"can i get nachos to go?" mingi looked up at her.

mingi drunkenly stumbled down the road, this was it. he had hit rock bottom and there was no way to go up.
he had been walking for almost an hour now before he finally reached his destination.
an old cement bridge that had plants overgrown everywhere. the worn down structure hovered over some rubble and large rocks that would for sure kill someone if they fell.
he sat on the edge and looked up at the sky. despite the darkness, the stars lit it up like a city. almost looked like mingi was looking down from an airplane.
he opened his takeout box of nachos and ate it, ignoring the constant buzzing in his pocket.
mingi just wanted it to be over, why wouldn't everyone just fuck off and leave him alone? it was pointless anyway, mingi felt like he was just walking luggage.
after finishing his nachos, he licked his fingers then fished his phone out of his pocket. he stared at the loads of missed calls and texts, though only one in particular stood out to him.
he really didn't want too, but he did anyway.
