"Woah! Careful there," I commented as a boulder narrowly missed my head.Sokka had gone to the market with Katara a while ago so I was just sitting outside waiting for food.
"Sorry!" Aang apologised before stopping a boulder from smashing him right in the face.
Aang was in the middle of a training session with Toph. I don't know why he still trained with her. We had taken down the Fire lord months ago.
"I'm not." Toph commented.
I rolled my eyes. I was an amateur earthbender when I met the team. By the team, I mean Sokka, Katara and Aang.
Me and Toph are sisters. No really. Biological twins.
Toph never really liked me. I never really liked her. I didn't like her because she got treated with more kindness than me and the focus was always on her. She never liked me because I was the twin with functioning eyesight and the world actually knew I existed.
I was allowed to do basically whatever I wanted because my parents didn't particularly care for me. As long as I didn't disclose Toph's existance I was fine.
Another boulder flew at my head. From behind.
I didn't turn around until it was too late.
I couldn't have stopped it in time. Thankfully Aang managed to stop it with a buttload of water from the fountain.I stood up abruptly, turning to Toph.
"What is your problem?!" I yelled. My fists balled up and Aang had to hold me back from beating the living daylights out of her.
"What's my problem? You have been blowing up and overreacting at everything I do!" Toph retorted.
God, I wanted to bitch slap her so hard.
"I think you both need to just relax for a second and try talking it out," Aang tried.
We ignored him.
"You're supposed to be my sister Toph! Sisters don't try to kill each other with their bending!" I shouted, still fighting against Aang's hold.
Something in Toph seemed to snap just then.
"You were never my sister! You were always off in your own Y/n world! You never asked if I was okay. You never wanted to know how I felt." Toph yelled back.
I stopped in my tracks. I had never thought about that. God, I was a hypocrite. Not asking my own sister about her feelings? Now that is the mark of a terrible person.
Aang finally let go of me.
"I- how do you feel Toph?" I asked. Rather reluctantly but it's a start. I took a small step towards her but she turned away from me.
"You don't get to ask that anymore. You had a million chances." Toph stalked away angrily.
Oh wow. The one time I bothered to be nice to her, she walks away.
What does she want from me?
I let out a growl of frustration, stomping off in the other direction. The earth cracked slightly under my steps.
Aang ran after me and not Toph for some reason. Not the best idea but I don't judge...
Who am I kidding that decision was shit.
"Y/n!" Aang called after me.
I bent an earth wall up in front of him.
He broke it. Damn. I forgot he can Earthbend.
I turned to face him.
"What? What do you want?" I yelled. I was still angry.
He startled slightly at my tone of voice but walked towards me regardless.
"I want to talk."
"Well I don't."
I bent an earth tent around myself and crouched low to the ground.
I waited for a while. I thought he was gone for sure. I bent the earth back into the ground and stood up.
Oh crap. He's in front of me.
Before I could react, he wrapped his arms around me.
I was confused. We were close, best friends even, but he had never initiated physical contact. Mainly because he knew I wasn't big on it. My parents never hugged me. Neither did my Earth kingdom friends.
"What's this for?"
"You seemed like you needed one," he replied simply.
Oh.
Okay.
I hugged him back. We just stayed there for a while. It was... nice. Really nice.
