"About me?" you asked.

Sabine shrugged, "I don't know for sure, just what I'm guessing."

You nodded in understanding and walked towards the closed cockpit door anyway. "Ezra, wait for us in the Phantom, we have to leave soon."

Ezra nodded and walked off as you clicked the button on the control panel and the door slid open. Hera and Kanan were still in the heat of an argument.

Hera stopped when she saw you, "this is your doing."

You nodded, "the inquisitors finding us on that base was not a coincidence, I think you know that Hera."

She crossed her arms, "I know that."

You leaned in the doorway, "then you also know that something is in motion that only we can figure out and handle."

She shook her head, "Kanan promised me we would do this together, either we all go or no one does."

You crossed your arms, matching her authority, "I have always respected your leadership, Hera, but I am going with or without your blessing."

Her gaze met yours, shock and betrayal in her eyes, "you-"

Kanan jumped in, "so am I, and so is Ezra." He grabbed her shoulders, turning her to meet his eyes, "this is something we have to do."

Hera looked like she wanted to argue, but she finally sagged in Kanan's grip sighing in defeat, "who will watch your backs?"

"We'll watch each other's backs," Kanan replied, hugging Hera tightly, "and we'll come back."

You allowed them a moment alone and headed towards the Phantom, "leaving?" Sabine said, leaning on the ladder into the Phantom.

You nodded, "we'll be back soon."

Zeb handed up a box of provisions to Ezra's awaiting arms. When you looked at him in curiosity he shrugged, "in case soon is longer than you think." You smiled and nodded in thanks as Kanan and Hera joined you.

"Be safe," Hera said, "all of you."

She lingered at your side as Kanan climbed into the Phantom, "I'll bring him back," you whispered, "promise."

She smiled, but it didn't quite meet her eyes. You smiled at each of your friends before following Kanan and Ezra into the Phantom and taking off, putting in the Lothol coordinates to the hyperdrive.

Kanan watched the Ghost grow smaller before disappearing in the white light of hyperspace. "You look sad," you said, taking a seat next to him.

He shook his head, "not sad, just afraid - of the unknown."

You sighed, "everything is unknown now, we would be fools not to be afraid."

Ezra sat across from you, "you're afraid?"

You nodded, "fear is natural, Ezra," you explained, "I find myself afraid almost everyday."

"I thought Jedi weren't supposed to be scared?" he asked.

"Only in theory," you answered, "if you live long enough, there is always something to be afraid of, always something you fear to lose."

Kanan, who looked distracted while you talked to Ezra, chimed in, "I have this feeling like I am never going to see them again."

You placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, "I know that feeling all too well. I wish I could promise you will see them again."

He nodded in understanding and you let a comfortable silence fill the cabin.
