(Keefe's POV)
Foster came inside looking as stunning as ever in the light purple dress Biana had gotten her.
But I guess I'm supposed to be a good father, so I ruffled Alsee's hair.
"You okay, Mini Hunkyhair?" I asked. Alsee snorted.
"I prefer the title Admiral Hunkyhair, Dad, you know that." Alsee corrected.
"Nuh-uh, then you'd be higher status than me. You're Captain Hunkyhair, and I'm Admiral Hunkyhair." I insisted.
"Let's be real, Dad, I have better hair than you, so I should be the Admiral." Alsee countered. I gasped dramatically.
"How dare you. I-" My voice trailed off when I glanced over at Foster and found her looking annoyed. I smirked.
"Do you wanna be Lady Hunkyhair? Is that why you're being grumpy?" I teased. I puckered my lips, but she playfully shoved me away.
"Nuh-uh, Admirals don't get to kiss me. Only Captains do." Foster insisted. Alsee smirked smugly and kissed Foster's cheek to tease me. My eyes narrowed.
"Fine. Then I'm Captain Hunkyhair." I grumbled reluctantly. Alsee "whooped" and levitated upstairs, shouting about how his hair was better than mine.
I kissed Foster long and slow. I heard two female voices say, "Ewww" and I finally broke away.
"Mommy and Daddy kiss a lot." Macie noted.
"Yeah, no kidding." Ellerie mumbled.
"You'll understand someday." Foster teased, picking Macie up and kissing the top of her head. "Now, who's hungry?"
"ME!" Alsee called from upstairs, excitedly levitating down. "Can we make starkflower stew? Please?"
Foster laughed, a sweet sound that made my heart flutter. "Sure." She replied.
"AND THEN I'LL MAKE MALLOWMELT BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY THING I CAN BAKE!" I shouted.
"YAY!" All three kids shouted back.
I took Macie from Foster and set her in her little chair (she insisted it wasn't a high chair, but it was, even though she's supposedly "a big girl").
(Twenty minutes later)
We were done with the mallowmelt and starkflower stew.
But I couldn't help feeling like things were too perfect.
"Honey, can I talk to you?" Foster asked suddenly. I nodded, sensing worry from my empathy. Foster told the kids to keep eating, and I followed her up to the bedroom.
"What's wrong?" I asked, taking both of her hands.
"I don't know. Ever since I used my teleporting when I went after Alsee, it feels like... Like my abilities are... Out of control. I almost inflicted on Macie when I was holding her. I don't know what's happening." Foster whispered.
"Really? That's weird... Is it calming down right now?" I asked.
"No..." She clutched her head, squeezing her eyes shut. "Get away from me." She whispered.
"What? What's going on? Are you okay?" I asked, stepping closer.
"No... My telepathy is trying to..." Her voice trailed off and she fell to the ground.
I hurried over to her and went to touch her hand. I yelped.
Her enhancing was so strong it shocked me.
Did that mean I could never touch her or be around her again?
*NOOOOOOO
WHYYYYYYYYYYY??!
