It had been four days.

For four days I hadn't heard anything about Dad. Or even Stefan. I tried to look for him at school but he was nowhere. I even made myself approach Elena to ask if she knew anything but she could only say that he had some business to do. Which meant she wasn't aware of anything either.

Numerous pictures had already flashed in my mind about what could have possibly happened.

Was he dead? No, Stefan wouldn't kill his brother.

Was he locked somewhere? Probably.

I thought about the possible places he could be placed and the most probable option was The Salvatore Boarding House. But I doubted he was unguarded. And Zach, another Salvatore and the guardian of the house, had to make sure he didn't escape.

I needed to come up with the right plan. Things couldn't end like this. Yes, Dad killed people during his stay here. And no, I wasn't thrilled about it but I couldn't imagine my life without him. I had no idea what I'd even do. He was the one taking care of everything. He had always protected me. Had always been there for me. Made sure I had everything I needed.

Every day I knew that he was someone I could reach out to if I needed anything. And without him I felt my life crumble down like a house of cards. He was the glue that kept it together and Stefan rolled in like a gust of wind.

And I couldn't forget about our last conversation either... We had plans to celebrate my sixteenth birthday. Finally when I felt like the tension was thinning between us, he disappeared.

So no, I couldn't let Stefan stock him away somewhere for ages.

Every day I entered school I hoped to see Stefan because that would answer at least a part of my questions.

"Clara!"

I stopped when Caroline reached me. She was another person I kept looking for lately. But she seemed to be fine and normal. She had even stopped wearing her scarf and the bite marks weren't visible anymore. I doubted she had any information about Dad's whereabouts.

"Yes?"

"Tomorrow. Car wash fundraiser. Sexy car wash fundraiser," she informed briefly but clearly.

"I..." I had to come up with an excuse. Because there was no way I would be washing someone's car while being half naked just to impress some guys who might be even twice my age. "I can't, Caroline. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow."
