"Brandon?"
He smirks at me and sits down next to me. I just keep on staring at him with wide eyes probably looking like a complete idiot.
"What are you doing here?" I ask and set my sketchbook down.
Sighing he begins to mess with his hair as he looks at the sky.
"I was just walking," Brandon replies and I roll my eyes.
"Well where have you been?"
Brandon looks back at me and stops messing with his hair.
"I bet you are wondering why I wasn't in school, right? Well my nick name isn't 'Rebel' for nothing," He laughed and shakes his head.
I just stare at him in silence still wondering what he has been doing.
"So what are you working on?" Brandon points to my sketchbook and I smile sheepishly.
"Oh nothing important."
"Well then can I see?"
"Nope."
"Please?"
"No way."
"Pretty please!"
"Brandon."
"Hart."
"Alright fine!"
Brandon smirks at me victoriously and I shake my head at him. Picking up my sketchbook I flip to the drawling I was working on and hand it to him.
A smile breaks onto his face as he examines my unfinished work.
"Wow, this is amazing," Brandon holds up my drawing.
It was a drawling of the stores and all the trees while people laughed as they walked on the sidewalk. I smile as I look at it just like Brandon does.
"Thank you," I whisper.
He nods at me and we just stare at each other in silence.
"So I was wondering.." His voice trails off and I raise an eyebrow.
"About?" I question.
"If you would like to go somewhere," Brandon says.
Is he asking me to just hang out or?
"Oh like hang out?" I blurt out and instantly regret it.
He looks back at the sky and leans back.
"I was thinking it as more of a date."
My breath catches in my throat and I feel like I can't breath. Looking at him with wild eyes I just stare at him.
"A d-date?" Questioning just to make sure I heard him clearly.
Brandon chuckles and scoots closer to me. He looks at my lips then back at me and begins to lean in. I stay there in complete shock as he is about to kiss me.
Suddenly there is a sound of a door slamming open from another room and is followed by a voice.
"Maya, I'm home early. Lucy decided to let me off early, since there was hardly any customers."
Maya's eyes widen and she quickly springs up to her feet. Brandon looks startled and looks from her to the door.
"You have to go, now!" She whisper/yells.
He begins to climb down the fire escape, but stops as he is almost out of her sight.
"Maya?" Brandon asks.
"Yes?" She replies hurriedly.
"So would you like to?" He raised an eyebrow.
Not even realizing what he was talking about she answers,"Uh sure."
"Sweet. Pick you up tomorrow at 7," Smirking he climbed all the way down.
Realizing what she had just agreed to she turned to protest, but see that he is long gone. She sighs and jumps slightly when her door opens to reveal her mother.
"Maya, what are you doing out there?"
Katie asked and smiled at her."Oh you know, just getting some fresh air," She smiles back.
"Well if you need anything I will be in my room," She nodded as her mom closed the door.
Sighing of relief, Maya climbed back through her window and closed it tightly. She sat on her bed replaying what just happened with Brandon. Her eyes widened as realization finally hit her.
"I have a date with Brandon!"
