Maya's P.O.V.
"EEEEKKKK!" Riley screeches, causing me to cover my ears in pain.
"Riley, calm down," I shout over her screaming.
After a couple of seconds, she stops and smiles creepily at me. Sighing, I stand up from the window seat and look down at her.
"One problem, the date is tonight," I add as I raise my eyebrows.
Riley's grin fades and she stares at me in disbelief.
"Maya, what are we doing sitting around here? Let's get you ready!" She quickly stands up and walks into her closet.
"Hmm, nope," Riley hums as she rummages through her clothes. She begins to throw random pieces of clothing at me and tells me to begin trying some on.
I chuckle and start to try on different tops first. None of them which fit my style or my body. This was pointless.
"Riley, I'm just going to go home and try my clothes instead," I say and walk towards the door.
"But Maya..." She whines," At least let me do fix your hair and makeup!"
I instantly shake my head,"Not a chance!"
With that, I open the door and run down the steps.
"Hey, Maya," Mr. Matthews says without looking from his newspaper.
"Aw, you don't even have to look anymore. You just know it's going to be me," I grin and he sighs.
"What's that?" He asks as he cups his hand around his ear,"Maya leaving?"
"Ha Ha," Rolling my eyes, I make my way towards the front door.
Just as I am about to open it, the door swings open revealing Topanga and Auggie.
"I should've known," Auggie sighs then runs up the stairs.
"Hi, Maya," Topanga smiles.
"Hello, Mrs. Matthews," I reply with a chuckle.
She walks inside and I begin to walk out, when she grabs my arm.
"Oh Maya, I just wanted to let you know that we are working on your case," She says.
"Thank you," I smile and she nods.
I'm glad I've got people who care about me and my well being.
"Anything for you, Maya," She smiles warmly.
"I would love to stay and talk, but I've got a date I need to get ready for,"I reply and her eyes widen.
"Date!?" Mr. Matthews says from across the room.
I nod and quickly grab the door handle,"Well it's been fun. See you later, losers."
Shutting the door, I sprint towards the stairwell and begin to run down them. Once I have made it out, I pace out of the building and make my way down the street.
As I am walking to my place, I begin to smile to myself. It's really dawned on me now, that I am actually going out with Lucas. Maybe if this will work out. Maybe..
Once I have entered my apartment, I quickly run into my room and begin to scavenge for clothes to wear.
If only I would have asked where were going then I would not have this problem, would I? No I still probably would.
Sighing, my fingers brush past different tops, but none seem too appealing. I shift my gaze toward a new dress I had just gotten that was laying across my chair. It was sheer and cream coloured with sleeves that flowed out once on.
Perfect.
I snatch it from the chair and quickly throw the dress on. Looking at the mirror, I smiled at myself. It covered everything that needed to be and could be either worn as a fancier dress or simply a more casual dress.
Once I threw on some wedges, I stared at my blonde hair and sighed. It was already curled slightly and I was not in the mood to really fix it up, so I just pinned a couple of pieces back, making sure little bits of hair were down in the front.
"Knock. Knock," My mothers voice says softly.
I glance at my door and see her wearing her work outfit. She must have gotten off early tonight.
"How was work?" I ask as I search for the mascara.
"Oh that doesn't matter," She replies,"What matters is that my baby girl is getting ready for her first date!"
She laughs and hands me my mascara that I had misplaced.
"Wait, how did you figure out? I hadn't told you yet," I look at her with a puzzled expression.
"I could just tell. So is it with that Farkley boy?" She questions and I begin to gag.
"Definitely not! Besides, Farkle is dating Riley."
A smile etches its way on her face after what I said.
"Finally. So then who is the lucky guy?"
I feel my cheeks get hot as I think about who it is.
"Lucas," I smiled sheepishly at her.
"It's about time that boy asked you out! Oh, Maya I am so happy for you. Wait, I never got to help you get prepared for your first date!"
I smile and shake my head.
"Don't worry mom, Riley kept trying to help me, but I wouldn't let her. I mean it's just a date.."
"Just a date? Sweetie, this is your first date! Everyone's first date is a big deal. Also it's with someone you really like, so this isn't 'just s date'," My mom hugs me as I have just finished my makeup.
I roll my eyes and sigh.
She was right. This was my first official date and that is a big deal. I guess I had one or two with Brandon, but those do not exactly count.
Brandon. Even the name alone puts a bitter taste in my mouth. Thinking about the cafeteria incident is something I rather not do before my date with Lucas.
"Well then..do I look okay for my first date?"
She grins and steps right in front of me.
"Beautiful."
