"Maya?" His voice was a blur just like the rest of the scenery around me.
Shaking my head, I slowly look at him.
"Uh, yeah?"
"Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost or something," Brandon laughs slightly.
"I'm fine.." I trail off and walk towards the entrance,"Coming?"
He furrows his eyebrows then sighs, holding the door open for me. We walk in and I glance around the room.
Just like I remembered...
(flashback..changing p.o.v.)
"Come on baby girl, don't want to be late to the grand opening!" Mrs. Hart calls to her little girl from the kitchen.
Suddenly you could hear a door being tossed open and a eager kid making their way down the hallway.
She descended down the couple of stairs the apartment held and made her way to the lady in the kitchen."Momma where is daddy?" The little girl asked and craned her neck as she looked around the room.
The mother bent down and smiled at her daughter warmly.
"We will meet him there. Daddy had to go early for the opening, remember?"
The young one nodded and skipped to the door of the apartment with much excitement. Following after shortly, the women opened the door and the two found the stairwell, and descended down the old steep steps.
"Now remember to stay by mommy at all times," Mrs. Hart reminded and the girl rolled her eyes.
"I know, I know!"
She shook her head at her daughter and smiled.
Once the two had made it to their destination, they instantly began to search the crowd.
"Where is he?" The little girl looked around hopefully.
"I don't know sweetie. He should be here.." Mrs. hart looked around and sighed.
Soon a man came up to the two looking desperately upset at the two.
"Are you Katy Hart?" The man questioned.
She nodded,"Yes I am. Why?"
The man took a long exasperated sigh before answering her.
"I'm so sorry but Mr. Hart isn't anywhere to be found," He frowned at the two.
"What do you mean? Where is my husband?"
"I mean...he left. For good."
Mrs. Hart's eyes widen and she began to tear up.
She put a hand over her mouth and sobbed as the man looked away, saddened. The poor girl couldn't exactly process what was going on in that moment and quickly ran pushed her way trough the crowd, to the front of the building.
To the side of the front doors of the building, there was a piece of paper tapped to the window.'To Katy and Maya Hart'
The note said on the front.
Curiously, the little girl decided to flip to the back and read what the words said...
'I am sorry that I am not here for the renewing of the family bowling alley. It has been a tradition for years that the husband of the family always opens up, but as you can see now, I'm not here to do so. I'm not here because I have left New York and gone to another state. Maybe someday we can meet up once Maya is older and we are pass this situation, but now I just need to be alone and happy.
