Ever since last night I have been worried on how Lucas and I will be at school. Is it going to be awkward? Will he tell? Maybe I should just go back home..
"Hey Maya!" Riley greets me and gestures for me to follow her into history.
"Hey Riles," I reply and take my seat.
Just then Lucas and Farkle walk in the door and I sigh.
"Lucas Hello," Riley says trying to act sophisticated.
"Hey guys,"He smiles and sits behind me.
"Forgetting about someone?" Farkle points to himself and I laugh.
"Farkle," Riley and I say at the same time.
"Ladies," He smirks and sits behind Riley.
The bell soon rings and Mr Matthews begins class.
"Okay today we will present our projects, class!" He explains and clasps his hands together.
"Riley and Farkle!" Mr. Matthews calls them and they walk to the front.
"Riley's favorite color is pink, she has a younger brother and a mother and father, she was born in New York , and wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up," Farkle turns and smiles at Riley.
"Nice and Riley?" Mr. Matthews says.
"Farkle's favorite color is green, he is an only child and has a mother and father, he was born in Boston, and wants to rule the world when he grows up," Riley smiles at Farkle.
"Great job guys. Friar and Hart," He claps and Lucas and I walk to the front.
As we walk I notice Lucas looking at me with concerned eyes. Let's hope this goes well.
"Lucas' favorite color is pale green, he has a little sister and a momma and father, he was born in Texas, and wants to be a writer when he grows up," I say and I see Lucas smiling.
"Good now Friar," Mr. Matthews smiles.
"Maya's favorite color is periwinkle, she has mother and a-" Lucas begins but looks at me and I blink away the tears.-" uh a father, and she was born in New York, and she wants to be an artist when she grows up," he finishes and I fairly smile.
"Nice job guys," He claps and we take a seat.
------Time Lapse to Riley's House-Maya is spending the night-------
"Hey Maya!" Riley smiles.
"Uhm hi Riley? You realize I have been here the whole time right?" I say as we sit at her bay window.
"I know that! I just had a question.." Her voice trails off and I raise my eyebrow.
"Yeah?" I question and gesture for her to continue.
"What happened today?" She asks.
"What are you talking about?" I reply and she sighs.
"With you and Lucas," Riley takes in a sharp breath.
"Riley there is nothing going on between us," I say slowly.
"What was that little moment in class?" She raises her eyebrow.
"What moment, Riley?" I say with a hint of annoyance in my voice.
"When he was saying about your life, but he hesitated, remember?" She says in a duh tone.
"He probably got choked on his words," I play it off.
"Maya, we both know that he didn't," Riley rolls her eyes.
"Can we not talk about this," I grit my teeth.
"Why not Maya? If there isn't anything between you two then it shouldn't be hard to tell me," Riley pushes.
"Riley there is some things that I can't tell you, okay?" I sigh and remember the other conversation we had before.
"But we are best friends and best friends tell each other everything!" She shows her friendship ring.
"I know, but Riles not everything is meant to be told," I groan.
"First you don't tell me why you and Lucas were hugging and talking about, and now you won't tell me why you to have been glancing and acting all weird today?" She raises her voice.
"Riley-" I begin but am cut off.
"Don't 'Riley' me! Maya I am sorry but lately I feel like you haven't been a good bestfriend and I don't want to hang out with someone who can't tell me the truth! I know you might think I am over reacting, but it's just bothers me that you won't trust me! And I always find you with MY crush!" Riley is now practically yelling at me.
"I do trust you, but just because we are best friends doesn't mean I have to tell you everything!" I raise my voice too.
"Well I don't want to be friends with someone who says they trust me, but really they don't!" She throws her hands up in frustration.
"Fine you don't have to," I say calmly and grab my jacket.
Climbing out her window I slam it shut and walk to my apartment. I look around the New York streets and see busy people who know where they are going and what they are doing in life.
That's the thing. Some people might think they know exactly where they are going, when really no one knows the next step they will take on their journey. It is you who decides which path you will take....
