"Hello? Yes, I know Melody Anders. Oh, my god!" exclaimed Andrew.
I dropped my phone.
"Mom! Andy! Austin!"
"What?" asked Andy.
"We need to go to the hospital!"
"Why?" asked Austin.
"Melody was hit by a car!"
Everyone rushed to the hospital.
"Hello? What?!" exclaimed Dennis.
"Hey, Dennis. What's up? Is she ok? I'm on my way!" exclaimed Kyle.
My heart dropped, when I heard that Melody is in the hospital my heart felt like it stopped beating.
"We're here for Melody Anders. She was hit by a car." Andrew said.
"And who are you to the patient?"
"I'm her brother."
"Alright, the doctors are almost done with surgery so when they finish you can talk to them."
The surgery was a long process. After 2 hours of waiting, the doctor was finally done.
"How is she?" Dennis asked.
"She will be fine. But we found something about Melody. Can I speak to Andrew and Dennis alone?"
"Sure. Let's just go home and get some rest." Andy said.
Andy, Austin, Kyle, and Emma (Melody's mom) went home.
"What's wrong?" asked Dennis.
"We were able to stop the bleeding."
"What did you find out about Melody?" Andrew asked.
"Melody is 2 months pregnant."
"Melody is pregnant?!" exclaimed Dennis.
"The baby is fine, but she'll have to stay here for a few days."
5 days later
"So, how are you feeling?" Andrew asked.
"Fine, the doctors told me I'm 2 months pregnant."
"Do you know what you want to do? Do you want to keep it?" Dennis asked.
"This is my baby, I'm keeping it."
"When are you going to tell Kyle?" Andrew asked.
"Soon."
When I woke up and the doctors told me I'm pregnant, I had this feeling that I shouldn't tell Kyle. What if he turns out like his father? What if I turn out like my mother?
"Well, good news. You leave tonight." Andrew said.
Melody got up after Andrew and Dennis left. She got her stuff and changed into her normal clothes. She left a note saying she discharged herself already and is leaving for college. Melody's song from town square was her hit song, so Richard kept this deal and paid for Melody's college tuition.
"Melody?"
Andrew and Dennis saw Melody's room empty, only seeing her note.
"What?" Dennis asked.
"She's gone."
"Where's Melody?" Kyle asked.
"She discharged herself."
"What? Why?"
"Kyle, something happened to Melody." Dennis said.
"Is she ok?"
"She's...she's..."
I looked over at Andrew. I was looking at him for some sort of answer or approval, something to tell me if I should tell Kyle the truth.
"She just needs to get away. Have a fresh start."
I couldn't tell him the real reason she left, it would break him. I just hope Melody knows what she's doing.
5 years later
"Mom, we're going to be late!"
"Be right there, love!"
"So, how do I look?"
"Looks like you're ready for Kindergarten."
It's been 5 years since I've seen or heard anything from Kyle. I don't know if he knows that he has a child. But when my child was born, I made a promise. That no matter what happens, I'll always be here. My precious little miracle, my precious little daughter, my precious little Silver. Mommy will always be here for you, always.
