Chapter 12: Out
(tw: mention of self harm, homophobia, slurs, verbal/physical abuse)
Heather C's POV (two days later)
I'm starting to really regret cutting myself, it hurts like a bitch 24/7 and Veronica has to redo my wrap every day until they're healed. We went to the mall yesterday to get some longer skirts and pants to cover my cuts, at least until I'm comfortable showing them. Sadly we have to go to school today, since we didn't yesterday, but we get to act like a normal couple today! We're not gonna hide our relationship, and sure people will know I'm a lesbian, but I couldn't care less. As I walk out of her room, Veronica tosses me keys to my Porsche, but I left it at my house?
How- how did you get these? I thought I left my car at my parents house.
"You did, but I figured out a way to get it back. You drive, you deserve it."
Th-thank you, you're the greatest. She smiles softly and we start driving to school. Once we arrived, I laced my hand with hers and we walked in, earning glances and stares from the students in the hallway.
"Who knew Heather Chandler was a dyke? And she's gay for some nobody too!"
Who said that? I ask, watching everyone point towards none other than Jessie James himself. You're calling Veronica a nobody? Who here can tell me what this kid's name is? I ask, looking around, seeing nobody raising their hand. Now who here can tell me what her name is? I motion towards Veronica, seeing dozens of hands shoot up. I turn back to JD. You tell me who the nobody is now, asshole. Even if somebody did know your name, they'd be ashamed to say it out loud. I say, kneeing him in the balls and turning back, kissing Veronica lightly before flashing a glare at anyone who dared to laugh. We stumble through the day, being called a few names here and there, only for one of us to punch them, and we skip the last period to go to the Heather's bathroom. We arrive and see Duke and Mac sitting on the counter and kissing. Veronica speaks first.
"Get a room!"
"Oh shut up! Like you two don't kiss in this bathroom too." Duke responds playfully.
We do but we go into a stall, can't have people walking in on it. I say in response, swatting at Duke's arm. Veronica and I walk over to the mirror and I pull out two tubes of lipstick, one red, one blue, handing the blue over to her. We put on our lipstick and she looks at me, her eyes flashing down to my red lips for a second, only to go back up to my eyes.
You've got something to say, Sawyer? I ask, raising an eyebrow and moving closer to her.
"I-I want purple lipstick."
I'm sure we can find some for you dear. I say, wondering why she would mention that. She pulls me to her level by the collar of my shirt and places her lips on mine, after I snap out of my shock I kiss back a bit before she pulls away.
"There, purple." She says with an innocent smile, turning my head to look in the mirror at our matching purple lipstick.
Oh you sneaky little shit.
"Oh shut up, you know you wanted to do that as well." she pulls me back down to her level, this time planting a kiss on my cheek, leaving a slight lipstick mark.
"There, now every single person at this school knows you belong to me."
I- um- o-ok thats g-good.
"Aww is THE Heather Chandler at a loss for words?"
Sh-shut up Sawyer. I say as we walk out of the bathroom and into the parking lot, I get into my car and before I start it I turn and look at Veronica.
