It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and the house was unusually quiet. Too quiet. Seungmin was lounging on the couch, reading a book, while Minho was folding laundry. Han and Hyunjin were in the kitchen, chatting over a cup of coffee. Chan and Changbin were suspiciously absent, which usually meant they were up to something.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash from upstairs, followed by giggles and whispers. Seungmin and Minho exchanged knowing looks.
“I’ll go check,” Seungmin sighed, putting down his book. As he climbed the stairs, he could hear muffled laughter and what sounded like... meowing?
He opened the door to the boys’ room to find Chan and Changbin dressed in makeshift costumes, complete with capes and masks. They had also managed to wrangle Minho’s three cats into tiny outfits, and Yongbok was trying to get Soongie to wear a tiara.
“What on earth are you doing?” Seungmin asked, trying to keep a straight face.
“It’s the Pet Parade!” Changbin announced proudly. “We’re having a contest to see who has the best costume!”
Chan pointed to Soongie, who looked less than pleased with the tiara. “Soongie is going to be the princess.”
“And Dori is the superhero!” Yongbok added, holding up the cat who was wrapped in a tiny cape.
“And this is Super Kitty!” Changbin declared, pointing to the third cat, who was somehow managing to look both dignified and annoyed in a tiny mask.
Seungmin chuckled. “Alright, but you know the cats aren’t exactly thrilled about this, right?”
“They’ll get over it,” Chan said confidently.
Downstairs, Minho heard the commotion and came up to investigate. “What’s going on here?”
“It’s a pet parade,” Seungmin explained, barely containing his laughter.
Minho looked at the cats and burst out laughing. “Well, they do look... festive.”
Just then, Han and Hyunjin appeared at the door, curious about the noise. When they saw the cats in their costumes, they couldn’t stop laughing.
“Alright, alright, let’s have this parade then,” Han said, clapping his hands. “We’ll be the judges.”
The kids eagerly led their pets down the makeshift runway (a strip of carpet in the hallway), each cat reluctantly strutting in their tiny costumes. The adults tried to keep a straight face as they judged each “contestant.”
“And the winner is...” Hyunjin paused for dramatic effect, “Super Kitty!”
The kids cheered, and even the cats seemed relieved that the ordeal was over. They quickly shed their costumes and ran off to hide.
“That was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time,” Minho said, wiping away tears of laughter.
“Agreed,” Seungmin added, still chuckling. “But next time, maybe we should ask the cats if they want to participate.”
The kids started cleaning up their costume supplies, still giggling about their pet parade. As they finished, Changbin looked up and said, “What should we do next?”
Seungmin and Minho exchanged wary glances. “How about we all watch a movie together?” Seungmin suggested, hoping for a more peaceful activity.
“Yeah! A movie!” Chan agreed, already heading for the living room.
As they all settled in to watch a family movie, Minho leaned over to Seungmin and whispered, “At least the cats are safe for now.”
Seungmin grinned. “For now.”
